Type two i believe is every thing except whats on the band list, theirs also a couple of other kinds of tournaments each with there own list of what legal. I hope that give you an answer man.

Er, wrong.

Previously, Type 1 was everything, no matter how old, unless it was on the Banned/Restricted list: in that case, you could have just 1.

Type 2 was the last two years' sets (roughly), Type 1.5 was the last four years'.

However, those names aren't used anymore.

Standard is what used to be type 2. Extended is Type 1.5. Legacy is everything, with a banned list. Vintage is everything, with a lesser restricted list (and, technically, a small banned list consisting of ante and physical action cards).

That all being said, I don't think there's too much planning for Magic going on here. If anything, there'll be casual play, so just bring whatever decks you think are fun.

I might be carrying around one of my favorite casual decks, actually: an enhanced Kamigawa-block Splice deck. That, or Starlight Breaker if my buddy still has it assembled.

The magic thing on Sunday is not a tourney just so you know. I don't have anyone who can "judge" or funding to grant a prize to the winner. So if you look closer on the schedule, the Yu-gi-oh and the Magic time slots are when players of those games can come in and have a specific place to play and socialize at.

Of course you'll be able to play Magic at any of the open gaming tables of tabletop whenever you like. It's just those times are specific to those games.

How many of you will be playing the Commander (EDH) format at the con?

(For those who don't know what it is) You choose a legendary creature. Said creature is your commander and remains in a commander pile (Its like a remove pile) and can be summoned at anypoint during your mainphases. If your commander dies or is removed, you choose to place it back in the commander pile or discard pile. If you place it in the commander pile, it gets (2) added to its cost everytime. (Colorless mana)

You can only have colored cards that your commander has in your deck (If your commanders green and red, only green and red allowed in deck). The decks are 99 cards. Only ONE copy of each named card is allowed (So you cant have like 2+ counterspells and such, Basic lands are allowed but not nonbasics)

You start with 40 life instead of 20, and if a commander does 21 damage to a player it kills them as well.

This format was made for multiplayer so. Its a great way to get people to social and its also pretty well aimed towards people who just want to have fun. There are serious decks obviously but with so many people its a serious political game. Theres also different varients of it ( 2v2 Two headed dragon, 3v3 Emperor, Etc)
