I'm pretty excited. Not only is Leiji Matsumoto (who turns 74 this month) planning to remake the original Yamato series, he is launching 4 other new projects!
One is "Legendary Dreadnought Mahoroba", which features a bad-ass Yamato-ish spaceship that to this point has only been seen in select manga side stories of Galaxy Express 999 and others. The other is Ozuma, which is vaguely 999-ish in that there are real humans living subjugated to altered humans (in this case genetically altered people who were made to counteract declining birth rates due to the increase of damaged genomes from the depletion of the atmosphere). This one was composed in the 80's, but got shelved until now. It is being worked on also by Ryusuke Takahashi, the creator of the gritty mecha classic "Votoms". He is also planning a live action GE999 movie. Last is Zero Desigze, a new sci-fi that we don't have many details on yet. It's unclear whether or not it will follow the same characters as Cosmo Warrior Zero. Pretty exciting! |

wow all of those things sound really freaking exciting!
although I don't know how I feel about the live action thing. That show is so...fantastical and scifi. Thata stuff alwys translates poorly to live action :/ |

I can not wait for the new Matsumoto stuff. Very exciting , Heck Yes!!!!
About the Space Battleship Yamato (2010) I have seen it a few times (Dvd & Blu-ray versions) . I liked it especially during the battle scenes playing it very loud on my surround system . The lead female character (Yuki) , she has the temperament of the starbuck character in the new BSG (very cool). It is good movie to watch. |
