What are you talking about? Out of about 20 cosplays posted on here, maybe 7 aren't Anime. I wouldn't qualify that as "so many." And for a convention that claims to be super mature, some of the admins on here act a little childish when someone says they're going as something that isn't anime. People are going to do what they want, even if it is a convention geared towards Anime.

Man, I fucking hate the admins on here. They're all such assholes.

:france: Hey now, I didn't specify anyone specific as being childish. And my label of admin was too far reaching, I will admit. But, I will point to the Kingdom Hearts thread as evidence. There are a few people who kinda jump anyone here if they aren't cosplaying from an anime. Now, I realize that this entire topic has been harped upon about a gazillion times, but... people are going to cosplay what they want. It's just a fact of conventions. So, due to the fact that there are already numerous threads discussing the anime emphasis, it would probably be more ideal if this stopped becoming such a big deal every single time someone posted that they were cosplaying as someone from Harry Potter or Final Fantasy or the like. It's probably going to be at the convention anyway, so making a big example out of someone isn't going to mke a huge difference.

I don't think it's unfair at all. Anime Punch emphasizes Anime in all aspects including Cosplay. With all of the other anime conventions that allow focus to go on everything vaguely Japanese in Ohio and Surrounding States, it's not unrealistic to have a con that just focuses on Anime.

It's not that they try to stop other genre of cosplay. It's that they want Anime cosplay to be recognized that would otherwise be completely overshadowed by video games, assorted fashions, and western influences.

They seem to be of the opinion of yeah, cosplay what you want but we're here for Anime.

We ask that people cosplay from anime because this is an anime con. Nobody should ever get in somebody's face and tell them they are wrong for not cosplaying from an anime, and if that happens, feel free to report it to us, and if it happens at con, get the person's name and report it to con ops.

This con was founded on being different. So we ask that you respect that. Anime costumes are also typically less complex in general. You can wear your other costumes anywhere else. So we are presenting a challenge to you. If you always wear video game costumes and thats all you have, heres your opportunity and excuse to make something new and from an anime. But if that doesn't interest you, then so be it.

Though in the case of Kingdom Hearts, you could at least pick a series of games that isn't terrible...

Personally I don't really like the whole "Only anime" rule, but honestly I don't care that much. This is anime punch, no one is going to flip their shit at you wearing a video game cosplay. They just prefer to give anime more attention, and honestly that IS a nice change as anime is kind of being thrown to the side at other cons unless its super popular like Naruto, Death Note, Hetalia or some other series.

But I wore video game cosplays last year, will again this year.

It seems that most people who post in the cosplay forums only post there, and only post in specific threads, thus I put a generic thing in every time. I don't expect people to scan every thread before posting. Likewise, while it seems crazy to me to go to a con without first reading its website, many people simply do not read our website and thus are blissfully unaware of everything that makes us us.

That made me smile.

I got a pirate outfit (and no specific character, just a pirate. Saw a photoshoot for it and figured "why the hell not?"), Sanzo, aaand Wonderland!Ciel (actually have two costumes for him... maybe three if my friend is successful in making me purchase the cupcake butt dress, but I ain't overdoin' it).
I totally wanna run around as Sanzo with the apron and some big yellow gloves. Utilize whatcha got, yo. ;D *no more watching stupid things in the middle of the night*

Friends are going as Bunny-Bastian and Hakkai, Cheshire Grell, variations of Grell, an Undertaker, and...well, there are probably MORE costumes in there I don't know about, but hey. Three days can only allow so much time for costume changes.

Lol no, it's not a series, they're several different software programs that, essentially, sing! I thought it was stupid as fuck at first, but I finally, went and looked up a couple songs by Kaito and Luka and fell in love with the music. Check some out on youtube. [Kaito Stepping on your Shadow was the first I ever listened to].

probably just gonna wear my Protomen rebel getup. I was thinking Lupin but I can't be assed to rent a tux, let alone a red one. Plus my hair doesn't go like that. Then I was thinking professor oak, but the hair again. I figure I'm better off going as something or someone that doesn't have a pre-defined hair, that being me.

yeah, vocaloid is really popular. I'm not to familiar with it, but the costumes are cute.

I did. Back before I thought girls were icky. ;o

Washu was my role model as a kid. It bit though because my bro and I got into the Tenchi Muyo series right as it was pulled off of cable. IT WASN'T FAIR. However, it was a good thing in the end, because it was pulled before we were warped by the public american TV version forever. It also led me to discover( during my first trips on the interwebs) Ecchi and Hentai, usually involving Ryoko, of course.

As a side note, I'll be searching for the elusive Ryo-Ohki plushie this year as well...

ya i dont think ive ever seen a washu cosplayer, but ya the wig is the problem. i didnt order it early enough so im going to be frantic to try and get it done. if it even arrives on time :( .. we can only hope.. but its 51 inches long and im only 60 inches tall... so its going to be pretty beastly..

and i LOVE darker than black!! its really started getting popular recently.. i did a yin commission for a friend for ohayocon.. but ya the weapon..., cardboard, covered in craft foam or poaster board.. you Can spray paint it but i recommend auto paint :) good luck!
