Title: Go

Bawlz - January 8, 2009 01:09 AM (GMT)
So does anyone play Go? Was thinking I might bring my board and stuff if there was anyone else besides me and some random people walking around that wanted to play, or maybe learn cuz I think I can probably teach some people how to play?

bluenigma - January 8, 2009 02:35 AM (GMT)
Never played, but I might try it.

Speedycat - January 8, 2009 04:02 AM (GMT)
I prefer Go-Stop.

Fumouffu - January 11, 2009 05:10 PM (GMT)
I never played it either, but I'm more than willing to try it out!

Never head of Go-stop before, guess I'll have to google it later. But I guess if you guys want to learn to play, and any other people want to, I'm probably going to bring my laptop with me that has a Go program on it, even though it's not as good as having the real board and peices but would be kind of hard for me to bring that stuff on an airplane cuz the board is kinda big, but ya if you guys want to plan something between now and AP maybe we can get together and play some and learn how to play :P

Alright just posting again to see if anymore people had wanted to meet up and play Go when the con rolls around. I found the book that I had gotten when they did the tutorial for it back at the first AP so thats good will help me teach anyone if they want to learn. But I gusse if someone wanted to learn they could always just go on Wiki and look it up :P

Speedycat I had looked up Go-stop and that is totally differant from what I was talking about but still looks lik it could be fun.

And if anyone wants to know what Go-stop is here is the wiki link for it

And if anyone wants to know more about Go here is the wiki link for that too.

Cool, well when it gets closer to AP and there is a rough guess of when panels will be going on we'll try and set up a place to meet and play.

I'm a 14-kyu and I'd love to play a game, or two, or many.

Like many others, I gave it a shot after finishing Hikaru no Go. I am terrible, but if I have some free time, I may try and play a game.

I am impressed to even see this topic, though. Very cool.

Hmmm I see more ppl are interested, umm since the Con is getting close I gusse we should try and set up a time and place. I'm not sure on the time, but I'm thinking maybe some time late at night/early morning that way we can still go to all the panles and stuff we want to. But what ever seems to fit best for most ppl I think is what we will do but if we get some ppl that can't make the time I'll try and set up more times for them too if I can. As for a meeting place, ummmm I'm open for ideas but I was thiking maybe the table top room/section that they will have or maybe meet in like the game room or some place and then maybe move some where else were there is room? I don't know but I'm open to ideas if anyone who is planning on going wants to post thanks again, and I'll try and do my best teaching you guys Go!! :P

I'm arriving Sat morning, so anytime after that is fine for me. Evening/late night sounds good, since there isn't much to do then for the non-dancing types.

If there is a tabletop games room, it might be a good place to meet. When I'm at a new con, I always check that room to see if they have Go.

I think I remember how to play...I learned through Hikaru No Go but I dont remeber everything...I might play. I will need a refresher though.

Hmmm I'm still not sure on the times for this I'm going to talk to my friend tonight that is going to help me teach this and ask him what times he thinks would be good and then I'll post more. As for the meeting place I think the table top game place/room sounds like a good place to meet for when we want to do this and go from there. And if anyone has a Go board and stones could you please bring them? I wasn't able to bring mine since I normally live in FL and I'm up here for the con but if anyone has a real board would be nice to play on it, all I got is a free program that I found off some site and it works alright but it's feels better to play with real stones and a board. :P

I Eat Mousetraps - April 9, 2009 11:46 PM (GMT)
I've never played it- but I'd be more than willing to learn ;3;

I was always interested in the game but never could find someone to teach me.

Bawlz - October 22, 2009 10:25 PM (GMT)
Blah....... So ummmmm ya forgot about this last year but ummm yeah, friend and me said that we would want to do this again so still seeing if anyone else wanted to join in again and learn or play some Go, and yeah I hope I won't forget again while at the con :P

I would love to learn to palay, do you know if theres anywhere on the internet where you can play?

Bawlz - October 26, 2009 07:31 AM (GMT)
Umm I haven't found any place online to play, never really looked that hard, but I know you can go to like Wiki and google and find sites that will give you information about playing it and if there are any places you can go and play it around you.

Just watch all of Hikaru no Go...Thats a great way to learn how to play, haha. But yeah, it seems there are plenty of places to play free online. Though if you're just learning it may be hard. With Go I've heard it helps to learn on a smaller board. You can see how the territories develop easier and strategy is much simpler. I'm not sure theres anywhere online that will let you start like that though, so I would say your next best bet is to find a friend who is also interested in learning. Go half on a set and learn together.
