Anyone out there doing a character from a Gainax show? (Eva, Gurren Lagann, Mahoromatic, Gunbuster/Diebuster)

I'm doing Simon from Gurren Lagann. Won't say which one yet, but it's gonna be pretty rad.

You guys still needing jewelry for gurren lagan? I can possibly manage to make something by then. Been looking at the site at the stuff I thought I remembered you needed. I'd need to tap your knowledge on beads cause I know not of where to get them. I think though that I can squeeze out some accessories by AP, just need to know which ones. Nia's neck thing as I recall. Anything else?

If only I could sew I would maybe join you as Rossiu or Viral, though my main priority in life right now is still to one day appear as archer, hopefully with a saber nearby in my armour :D

I still hold, though, that if you tracked down a sewing machine and a pattern, you could probably figure out how to sew shit - it's not that hard!

...Fuck it man. Screw Rossiu, you should do Kamina! You're actually built enough to do him, and there's minimal sewing for that! It's more of a problem of the body paint XD

Kittan seems surprisingly simplistic and a little dull from a costume standpoint. He must be a cool fellow for two out of three of you to like him :D

Had to look around on google for a pic of Kamina, then found out that there's a button that leads to a whole different set of character picks on the lagan site. Guess that's from before this timeskip you mention since everybody looks younger. On the one hand, I once told myself I'd never be the shirtless guy walking around the con.

lol, I figured I could make those in a few days so whenever you want them I can probably crank them out

But I did figure I might have time to create a few things here and there before AP, so show me what you want, I'll see what I can do and let you know :)

I forge them in the fires that burn deep in my creative soul.
I also use fiberglass, but that soul stuff is where the magic really happens.

Is there something you require for a cosplay at AP? Perhaps I could help out with what you desire.

I'm not sure yet how precisely I'd make what Cori and Codi once wanted, since I don't know their exact wants yet. Right now I'm working on a new sword to go with that saber armour I showed off at Sugoi, as well as starting swords for Archer (fate/stay night) and those are all wood with a new steel rebar and resin insert idea to bind everything together that was a stroke of genius when It came to me. I've also got a Rider (Fate/stay) weapon I've started searching for parts for. Jnkolm is getting me the hook up on some steel eyebolts, saving me the effort of visiting a bunch of hardware stores.

Jewelry type stuff I'd make with fiberglass, bondo, and lots of loving care, especially in the paint job. If you check the Gurren Lagan site, I'd make the necklace Nia is wearing by using aluminum foil and wax to shape the form of the piece and tinker with the fit and shape. That would give me an idea of where I'm headed before I get too far down the road and screw myself by not having a plan. Then somehow (haven't thought it out completely yet :P) mold and build up the actual piece from that. That's what the twins once showed me, so I had a few ideas on how to make it. The hard part is a clasp so they could have actually put it on. Not sure on that one yet.

Anything I do make I'll be brining along to AP, since I think I'm doing a prop/accessory panel like I did at Sugoi, except this time I'll actually be prepared :lol: I'll be able to get a lot more detailed in my processes then.

Yeah, it's definitely possible. I was thinking of just a Gainax one, but if there is enough GL then more than likely.

We'll be bringing a small time-skip GL group ourselves, most likely on Friday. I'll be going as Nia (almost done!), ryuuraigeki as Simon, and sugar as Kiyal. Ryuuraigeki may also be bringing her pre-timeskip Viral for another day!

XD I really hope she brings it! I want to see the finished Viral in person and BOW DOWN BEFORE HER AWESOMENESS.

Gahhhhhh, I can't wait until the convention! I need to get cracking on timeskip!viral THIS WEEKEND.

I can't help but notice you're all still missing a Kamina. A role that I'll be glad to fill in on. I did this cosplay at Ohayocon and shall do it again here at AP. I'll be the one who actually has the sunglasses.

And hopefully this time a real cosplay wig. Not the "Oh crap, oh crap, my wig still isn't here! Where's the closest costume holiday house?" wig.

Hehe, thanks. I am definately looking forward to all the TTGL cosplays. Mostly because it's a lot more fun to go around as a group. We are the Gurren Brigade after all. I hope to meet up with you guys there.
