Miccy - January 21, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
Sorry, dear, I'm not. But I have been playing Kingdom Hearts lately. :]
Mike, are you inforcing the no gaming Cosplay? o.o
Lothlin - January 21, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Wasn't that just for the competition?

fallen - January 21, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
i sent an email asking about that, they said that if i want to cosplay from kingdom hearts in the hallways its fine, i could even enter the cosplay with it, but i wouldnt be elegible to recieve any awards since it isnt an anime. i want to dress up as Kairi anyways so i was just wondering if anyone else was gonna do the same. i dont think any of my guy friends are going, it sucks, i wanted one of 'em to cosplay Sora, oh well.
Kaisermikeb - January 22, 2007 01:26 AM (GMT)

(Not Yukino but same uniform)
http://www.marge.it/oddishland/altre/karek.../karekano16.jpghttp://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j48/Take...Egraphic_08.jpgAn alternative:
Kairi's outfit is nearly a perfect rip-off of Yukino's from Kare Kano (the only difference is that Kairi's tie is smaller. Come to think of it, Kairi resemble Yukino in features a lot too...).
Kare Kano is far cooler, and far more amazing than Kingdom Hearts can ever hope to be, so you might want to check it out.
kalajessta - January 22, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
I actually agree with Mike on this. Why do you want to be another Sora or Riku... or whoever the fuck else. It's annoying to see and especially if it's done badly. Pick something else... Kingdom Hearts is too over cosplayed (especially by n00bs). I've yet to see a decent cosplayer from the series in person.
Lothlin - January 22, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
Question, which of Kairi's outfits are you doing? The schoolgirl outfit, or the one that looks like zippers exploded all over it?
Because I third, if you're doing the schoolgirl, totally do Kare Kano. 'course, I say that, because I have a thing about liking cosplays that aren't as popular, seeing a million clones of the same characters running around kind of gets boring after a while (at least to watch, I mean, if you're having fun it's still good.)

Really? I dunno, I thought there were some pretty decent ones running around at Sugoi (Like the mini Riku!), and that shadow heartless at Ohayocon was pretty damn original and interesting, though, I wasn't paying enough attention at Ohayo to notice much besides that.
...I'd almost feel offended, but my Rikku costume was pretty much my first one, so it kind of did suck balls and all...

I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but that's how I feel about Kingdom Hearts. I feel it's too over-populated with n00bish-cosplayers. And it turned me down from actually wanting to play the games. I haven't touched it since June. I have no intention on beating KH1 at all.
I've seen plenty of shadow heartless, random moogles, and cosplays that just arn't completed enough to be considered actual cosplays. I understand that people do this as well for Bleach, Naruto, etc... but it's just making me realize how much I don't want to cosplay those series because of the people that make the bad cosplays. There may be one in ten that are pretty decent, but still, cosplay something less popular. In ten years or so, go a head and cosplay Kingdom Hearts. Just not now.

well i was going to wear the pink and black dress thingy, i have a real nice one that fits me good, i also have a cute wig to wear with it, the wig was made specialy to go along with kairi cosplays, but as for the shoes, i have none cause they dont fit anymore, i was going to order some but all there is would be black and pink boots, or the ones she wore with the purple skirt, and black and white tank tops, i also have her keyblade, its pretty awsome, better than any of the one's ive seen so far.
anyways ill check out some other animes, i dont really want to make a costume, im pretty bad at that sort of stuff, and if they're too hard to find online then i wont be wearing them. my other choice of costume would be sakura from naruto, but theyre probably be too many of them, and it would look too shitty. ill check out Kare Kano, thanks for giving me some ideas.
oh and also, what are your opinions on samurai champloo cosplaying? fuu is also another option for me but im not sure if i'd be a good idea, but whatever i cosplay it'll look pretty awsome, and if not then i just wont dress up.

I've been thinking on how to respond to that, and I think what I need first... define n00bish please. Noob, newbie, whatever, it's a term that can mean a bunch of different things, from derogatory to simply being someone who is new to something, and if you're using it in the later sense (IE, referring to those who may be new to cosplay,) I can't help but be a little disturbed. Everyone starts out cosplaying somewhere, everyone has been new to it at some point, and degrading them is going to do nothing but turn then away from the hobby.
If it's in reference to the annoying ones... Well, honestly, a good portion of the annoying people I've seen in cons were just plainsclothes folks making jackasses out of themselves; sure, there's idiot cosplayers too, but they pop up in ANY FANDOM. It's only obvious in the more popular ones because there's more of them.
And anyway, if they're new to it, what the heck is wrong with doing something popular? Photoshoots can be a way to meet people, and hell, popular means more people would recognize them and compliments may encourage them to do better in the future! Or, encourage them to do more complicated stuff from lesser-known series, I don't know.
Sure, it's fun to look at more unique cosplay, but it's a hobby that's about fun. Not about.... getting the award for Most Rare Cosplay.
And it's a bit strange to me that popularity in a game can turn someone off it, I mean... Noobs or not, it's something they enjoy, and inevitable that there's a lot of them. Something being too popular and well-liked turns you off of it?

Well, if you're doing the pink dress, go with it <3. I can't think of much else that looks like it as far as other stuff goes, and it's a bit more unique than her schoolgirl outfit. And hell, if you already have it, it's all good! I'm sure you'll find other KH cosplayers at the con to hang with.
(Though, looking into less popular stuff does have its own merits, there's a good chance you can find some of them to buy too. And, it's always good to check on cosplay.com, a lot of folks there know what they're doing and could suggest sellers and stuff. Assuming you don't already.)

kalajessta - what makes you think you're anything but a shitty "n00b-ish" cosplayer? please. just because you've been cosplaying for a while doesn't mean your costumes aren't shit.
what happened to people cosplaying because they *gasp* like a character? she doesn't want to cosplay kare kano, she wants to cosplay kingdom hearts. so get off your high horse and quit your bitching.

Because I have been cosplaying since 2002. My costumes may not be "elite" but I take pride in my costumes. The costumes I'm talking about are just thrown together quickly that people don't even take the time or effort to "find" the correct costumes or attempt to make it. I understand if you don't have any sewing skills, but there's alternatives. And you should be presice in your costumes. Every detail should count.
I've stated my opinions. If you don't like them, ignore them. I'll ignore yours.

This is an anime con. Not a game-based con. Mike is trying to make this con the way he thinks an anime con should be. Cons these days are being based too solely upon games and if that's the case, create your own gaming con if that's the way you want it to be. I actually agree on Mike's part on this, anime cons should strictly relate to anime, not games.
densityofsouls - January 22, 2007 10:48 PM (GMT)
as i said. just because you've been doing it for a while doesn't mean you're good at it. try using a wigcap sometime. you might want to review your own cosplay gallery before talking to anyone about details counting. not all costmes have to be 'elite,' but you're in no position to be talking about how shitty other people's costumes are.
i hope that means you'll be avoiding all cons that don't have a strict anime-only policy. so much better for the rest of us. i'm just sorry that mike has to put up with you wedging yourself so far up his ass.
kalajessta - January 22, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
I do use a wig cap and secondly, who are you to critic me? You just joined these forums. I don't even know you. Keep your opinions to your self, and I'll do the same.

it's criticize. or did you mean critique? either way, i'm just as qualified to criticize you as you are to critique every kingdom hearts cosplayer.
and i'll say this one more time. just because you've been doing something for a long time doesn't mean you're any good at it. just beause i don't have nearly as many posts as you do on these forums doesn't mean my opinion counts for any less, and i'll share it whenever i damn well please, thanks.

You just came out and said I didn't use a wig cap. You could of asked nicely and I told you I did. Don't assume...ask next time and people shall be nicer to you.
densityofsouls - January 22, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
i honestly don't care if you're nice to me, sarah. you? you are to me what yuesokka is to you. does that help you understand things any better?
Yuffie - January 23, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
Just drop it please? There's no reason to keep going on you've both made your points.
Density, Kala asked to drop it. The horse is dead. Stop attacking her. The fact you don't like her doesn't excuse your behavior of being downright nasty.
Kairi029 - February 4, 2007 07:34 AM (GMT)
I'm going as
Kairi and I hope to meet a
Sora, Riku, and and Axel. And my costume will be top notch since i'm a perfectionist and I go completely mad if what i'm making doesn't look exactly like how it should.
And as for all this fighting, everyone has their opinions, but we all forget something, we're all here for the same reason, we love anime. So no matter how much you disagree about something with someone, you'll always have one thing in common.
Well enough of the insperational crap. And if anyone calls me a n00b, they're probably right, I am a n00b, but I'm not here to conqer the competition or make anyone mad, i'm here to meet cool people.

Im good at that

I though the rules only stopped them from entering the contest,
Kaisermikeb - February 4, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
Technically yes, but you're missing the point if you are playing the technicality game. The idea is that we focus on anime. If you don't care about anime, go to Ohayocon or something, there is lots of KH love to be found there. We are about the anime, pretty much nothing else.
Lothlin - February 5, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
Ok, that's wrong. There is love for manga, well, some love for manga, but as far as the cosplay contest goes (this point was made before at some point I believe, correct me if I'm wrong though!) a lot of manga doesn't have enough detailed, colored pictures for the judges to tell if the craftsman has been accurate to the costume. Unless they do assloads of artbooks like CLAMP and some other artists do.
Thing is, with the KH manga, it's manga based off of a game, and not manga based off an anime or turned into an anime. I agree with what Mike said in the other thread, it's a bit of a cop out. ^^;
/my two cents.
Kairi029 - February 7, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
Well then I'm just gonna go as Kairi and not enter the contest. =/ I've already started the costume anyways.
Kaisermikeb - February 7, 2007 06:44 AM (GMT)
Blah. Why are fangirls so idiotically stubborn about everything! It's a very simple world, why fight against it so often!!
Kairi029 - February 7, 2007 09:10 AM (GMT)
A little sneak peak of what they intend to do to the Kingdom Hearts cosplayers at this year's Anime Punch...

But then again...what will they do if a door needs unlocked? Therefore, no Anime Convention is complete without a random Sora (or in this case Roxas) walking around with a keyblade to unlock to door to the hentai room.

Kairi029 - February 7, 2007 09:29 AM (GMT)
Top 10 Reasons why there should be Kingdom Hearts Cosplay#1) I've seen some really good Kingdom Hearts skits (
better than anime ones)
#2) A lot of people have already stated that by frowning upon vidogame cosplay, you're cutting a lot of your income because A SHIT LOAD of anime lovers also love video games (hint:
FINAL FANTASY)
#3) If it's done right, some of the costumes look awesome
#4) Kingdom Hearts cosplayers have a lot of energy and a lot of happy go lucky imagination to be wild in the halways and liven things up
#5) You can have us to stick your unwanted weapons on
#6) You could use a random Sora for another trash ball (hahaha)
#7) I'm running out of things...umMmmMmm...you would have more people
#8) God would love you
#9) Maybe the moving smileys would start working
#10) You know you want to
mikalaya - February 7, 2007 11:22 AM (GMT)
I'll be 8 months pregnant when anmie punch comes along so I decided to be Olette from kingdom hearts 2. I can't fit anything else!!!
My boyfriend denies liking KH's and final Fantasy so he won't be cosplaying with me as my Roxas...

I wish I could fit somthing else I wanted to be wedding Ashe but I'm too fat...
cya thare.
Kairi029 - February 7, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, a pregnant Olette...your boyfriend should go as Hayner!! hahaha! That'd be a good conversation starter.

Vincent - February 7, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Top 1 reasons there shouldn't be Kingdom Hearts Cosplay
1. Mike said so.
And thats all the reason you need. >_>
Seriously though.. If people have already started a costume, they can
A) Alter the costume to be a costume for an anime character

Save it for another con that allows videogame characters and make a new costume, Theres almost 2 months till the con, thats plenty of time
C) Save it for another con that allows videogame characters and dont cosplay during the con, you can stil have fun without dressing up.
Vincent - February 7, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
It will be like that, but with real weapons.
And why bother with the extra weight of a blade and a whole cosplayer to drag around when you can just have this nifty new invention-
The Key
Kaisermikeb - February 7, 2007 03:08 PM (GMT)
Kairi, grow up and let this go. None of those reason on your list even have anything to do with why we are doing this, which has been stated clearly many times. Are you really this stubborn, or just stupid?
Why is this such a big deal to you, you had anime cosplays planned as well, and Kairi can double as Yukino.
This subject is not up for debate. Keep this up and we'll be forced to start deleting your posts or worse.
As stated on the website, which you've thankfully taken the time to read, we're a college aged con, we're not going to waste our time catering to the selfish desires of little girls.
