Naruto Jiyuu > Life Outside the Internet > Colleges

Posted by: Uchiha Mikyas Jan 17 2008, 10:26 PM
Just made this thread out of curiosity to see who lingering around Jiyuu is a senior applying to colleges. If you're a senior in high school and started applying to colleges or got accepted, rejected, or deferred from one you can share here.

((Also if you are in college you can talk about your campus and classes))

Early Decision
Johns Hopkins: Rejected

Regular Decision
SUNY at Binghamton: Accepted
SUNY at Stony Brook: Accepted
Carnegie Mellon: Rejected
University of Vermont: Accepted
Rochester Institute of Technology: Accepted
NYU: Accepted

First choice major: Neuroscience (only at hopkins); Computer Science (All other schools)
Second choice major: Computer Science (only at hopkins)

/double post

Come on, I know I'm not the only collegebound high school senior here! Or do the rest of you plan on RP'ing in your parents' basements the rest of your life XD.

I decided on Binghamton. Anyone else decide on a college yet? Is anyone remotely excited to not have to go back to your high school this September O.O.

Good luck in Computer Science. Most people who go into computers basically double-major in Math, so there won't be much of a chance for you to take elective classes, such as a foreign language or libral arts class.

Just finishing my first year at Gburg! wink.gif

I got denied from all of the ones I applied to.

They said from my personal statements I appeared to lack this thing called "sanity." I had not idea what they were talking about. What is sanity?

Anyway, yeah. I was pretty pissed when I hear everyone else who applied for colleges didn't have to write a personal statement or whatever. Guess it depends on if it is a community college or not.

Oh well, Navy Reserve is alright.

better than not currently having a job.

Anyway, I may end up switching from Reserve to Active Duty in the Navy.

Either way, my little activity will be even littler starting in September.

Actually, from June 4th to July 5th or 6th, my activity here may get a spike.

Well I'll be damned all over again. Didn't know there was another homeschooler here!

Northwestern.

And Kazuma, the Navy? You'd be willing to go to Iraq or wherever they send you? Props if you are, but I'd personally probably be better off in a non-combat position if there were a war.

Yeah. I plan on pressing lots of shiny buttons. I hope there are shiny buttons. ha

Anyway, yeah...
I got denied from all the colleges I applied for and this was my last option. Originally, I was going to try for the NROTC, but was denied from that as well. Right now, I'm not totally sure, but I think I may decide to be active; sounds like I'll be better off that way.

Ic, sorry about that, G. I hope you like the Navy, though. You seem pretty excited(I think) for it.

Yeah, Military's a pretty good option. Put my Dad through college when he retired. So hey Kaz, if the colleges are denying you now, maybe after a few years in the milietary... those colleges might let ya in wink.gif

Yeah, I'm pretty excited...or was.

I'm still interested, but the excitement has been decreasing.
My mom. lol
She is in the Navy, and the last time I asked her a simple question as to whether I might be able to keep my Yahoo account active (because of that three month crap) she went into a 3 HOUR explanation. 9am to 12pm; answering the question, but not to the point, then somehow getting into peer pressure, and then I just tuned her out mostly from there.

@ Kanki
I hope.
I'm losing excitement for college, too since I noticed a connection between everyone who has at least gone:

They all bitch about almost literally everything.

*shrug* we get used to somewhat instant gratifiation so after returing home (and having to deal with people you haven't dealt with for over a month), and some people just complain to deal with it. I'm guilty of doing so during winter and spring break biggrin.gif

Ignore the whining. Most college students are a bunch of bitchy little girls, males included. They'd like it if they could:
