i think it looks amazing.

the entire movie was filmed infront of a blue screen and the special effects are to make it look more like the comic book the movie is based on.

woah.... thats alot of film to put infront of a blue screen

they pulled it off to perfection IMO. Not one line in the movie wasn't epic nor well done. If I were to spell out everything that was great abt the movie i'd be staring at my computer screen for a LONG ASS TIME

Oh I very highly doubt this. This movie seems nothing more than something made for testosterone driven teenage boys. It seems like an average war movie. In that the battle scenes will be nice, but outside of that the conflict is straightforward and the outcome is clear from the start.

High production values and bloody scenes does not a good movie make.

That may be so, but just because the battles were well choreographed doesn't mean everything else was forgotten. We all knew that the 300 Spartans were going to be decimated seeing as how they went up against millions of Persians. But the Spartans do of course win in the end. All the lines in the movie were well delivered and sounded good, and the musical score really helped to convey how epic the movie actually was. All of my friends were more amazed at the fact that the lines were as good as the battles, than the actual battles themselves (which were of course nothing to sneeze at). The movie also really helped to capture the true essence of a Spartan Warrior. They were everything you imagined them to be. They were swift, ruthless, cunning, strong, and full of honor which makes them pretty damn badass XD. And it also captured how the Spartans looked death in the face and said, "Go fudge yourself." It may have been straightforward but it was done to perfection.

You and your talk omega, continue please. Tell us how bad the movie is when you've never seen it in its entirety. I want to hear more of your banter biggrin.gif

Just to make this clear, the top two movies in my opinion are Citizen Kane and Seven Samurai. So I tend to look at films differently than most people I normally come in contact with.

Why does one have to go see a movie to know they wont like it? I sit here reading all your reviews and pick up that all it seems to be is a standard war movie with more special effects. My main point was dont hype this movie up to be the greatest thing ever when chances are it has a simplistic plot and seems to have only one conflict that drives the story.

I haven't seen it, but it's not really the special effects that will make it awesome beyond belief. It's the style. That's why Kill Bill was a good movie and not just someone walking around w/ a sword and pwning left and right. And also why A Clockwork Orange gave me a generally creepy feeling.

There's nothing wrong with saying you wouldn't like a movie. But there is something wrong with saying it IS a bad movie when you havent seen any of it. Its just a child like way of thinking, something like saying you wouldn't like carrots because you heard from other people that carrots weren't good.

btw i have tried carrots and they aren't good at all :3

You can bash the movie just for the hell of it, and say it has a simplistic plot if you want. But you really shouldn't be expecting an amazing plot due to the fact that this was based on the Battle of Thermopylae in Greek History. You don't need an amazing plot to drive a story that was based on historical events because the plot was already made for you. The plot is irrelevant in this movie because they couldn't drastically change anything or else they'd get bashed for being ridiculously inaccurate. Since the plot is irrelevant there's not much else that could be bashed for this movie. The style of the movie was amazing to say the least. And the delivery of the lines were second to none. And the fact that the actual lines of the movie were comparable to Pulp Fiction only serves to help it even more. And there's no point in getting into battle scenes since we all have an idea of how well choreographed they were.
