History: Ken had a fairly normal childhood. He grew up with both his mother and father who treated him very well except for one thing. They sheltered him from violence, the opposite sex, and forced him to eat only healthy foods. He longed to play with the other children and join the ninja academy just to see what it was like. He loved his parents and obeyed their rules, but would look out his window wistfully day after day until he couldn’t take it anymore. At age 10, while running errands for his parents, he ran into a bully on the street who stole his money but upon running away was apprehended by a sword wielding Jounin that simply called himself "Yaiba" (Blade in Japanese). Ken looked in awe at Yaiba and asked him if he could teach him to fight. Yaiba agreed and Ken began lessons with Yaiba for the next three years, telling his parents that he found a job in town.
He joined the academy behind his parents’ back and with his prior training, he was easily able to sweep through without a problem. After becoming a genin, he continued to train with Yaiba, whom until now, had been teaching him only the basics. Because he was a genin, Yaiba gave him his first sword. Ken, due to his parents extreme sheltering became obsessed with his training, lying to his parents more and more and finding excuses. He soon rose to the top quarter of his class and was matched by only one other genin in taijutsu. He used his newfound skill to one day save a girl his age from a group of teenage punks. The girl gave him a small kiss on the cheek and he completely lost it. From that point on, his priorities were swordsmanship first and women second.
Yaiba was amazingly talented; he was a top-level jounin that did his own vigilante thing more than he did missions. Through his tutelage, Ken was able to pass his chuunin exam on his first try with flying colors. After becoming a chuunin, he pretended to have run away from home, but instead left the village to train at a remote town outside of the village. Ken soon learned that this was where Yaiba was from. His training’s intensity increased several-fold, concern not being about becoming a jounin, but about becoming as strong as possible with a sword.
After seven years of training, Yaiba informed Ken that he was done with his stay in Konoha and was leaving to discover himself. Heartbroken, he asked for a final duel. Yaiba accepted and the two fought for hours. Yaiba was victorious, but he was so proud of Ken that he gave him a summoning scroll containing a massive five foot long sword. He told him that he had earned the name of Yaiba and was no longer Ken Ueyama. Yaiba bid Ken a sad farewell and left the village, never again seen to this day.
The new Yaiba, Ken, encountered a ninja wielding a powerful sword. Ken had much difficulty, but slew him and kept his sword. He eventually learned how to activate this sword's latent power of fire. His obsessive personality shifted from training to sword collecting, and he added four major elemental swords to his collection: Fire, Water, Lightning, and Wind. He returned to Konoha after gaining his final sword and began a new life, dressing differently and saving women as a dashing hero. Ken, the self proclaimed “super-hero of Konoha”, is rarely seen now without an entourage of at least three women and a cigarette in his mouth.
If you are Genin or Chuunin post your main tree and the Jutsu you currently know from it. If you are Jounin, Hunter, or Anbu then you need to put down your secondary as well. Then you are also given a tree that is considered the Acedemy tree. Every village has one and so depending on your village you get that villages Acedemy tree as well. See the New Jutsu System post for more information on this.
