Title: How to end a fight.

Ds14 - September 21, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
It seems everyone gets knocked out. Is there any other way to end a fight in this style of RP? I mean, if there's not that big of a strength difference, someone's not going to just be like "I quit". It's more than likely out of character, too. Suggestions?

although noone is really gonna rp this. The other way a fight could end is if one person ran out of chakra. Chance are, though, noone is gonna really rp that since noone keeps track of how much chakra they've used.

That's kinda why whenever I have a planned fight I have it on a certain number of hits system (examples being when Akuitora had Meiten and Rain fight until someone landed three hits, or Jani fighting Kazan by whoever drew fourth blood). That way, there's an end in sight.

The thing is that the techs don't use up a certain amount of chakra, that's the amount required to use them. But yeah, someone could rp running out of chakra as an example.

And Kanki, that's a pretty good idea. Like, when it's two genin just practicing, unless there's an in-character reason, they shouldn't have to have a deathbrawl.

But somehow whenever Rain and Hinagi go at it, it inevitably becomes just that XD.

Yeah, prolly cuz of the relationship the two characters have.

The thing is this rp is not stat-driven, so its expected that fights will end oddly and predictably.

I remember this naruto rp where it was mega stat driven. As players rp, the mods watch over the thread and actually dictate whether a move that an rper made was possible given certain stats and techniques and what not. The problem with stat driven rps tho, is that they require a crapload of people, fairly active mods, heavy work load for mods, and they also get really boring, really fast IMO. That particular rp had deaths that were dictated by the mods as well. It was a big mess, but its popular still(i think).

Anyway, I like the rp the way it is anyway. It's more plot and character driven than most rps ive played.

Exactly. I'm a fan of stat driven with some randomness, but this one works very well the way it is.

Letting the characters decide seems to be the best way rather than saying "he has 50 attack and you have 20, you lose."

Like, that recent Kazuki v. Haraki fight wouldn't even have existed w/ stats. One character knew they'd win, so they went slightly easy on the other. Completely story based. (Btw, nice job, you guys.)

You could also do what we did at the Chuunin Exams and have a post limit for the two fighters. I thought that worked rather well actually. Also if they keep fighting until someone is KOed then both people involved are just being stubborn really.

I just dont think many people would make a coward or someone who would give up easily, so thats another reason why most fights end the way they do. Just a few thoughts.

Kuroukami Yukio - September 25, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah I agree with Omega, actually. Post limit is a good idea and it also forces you to think ahead and plan a fight rather than just type random actions.

Even having said that, I still think the fight parameters should be set by the people that are battling.

Mazrith986 - September 26, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
That's kind of the point of this RP. The battlers should be allowed to decide how they want to fight. The only time this won't apply is when there is a specific battle set up for a reason. Such as chuunin exams, ect...

Yeah, that's the cool part about it. I created the topic wondering different ways to end a fight than a double ko.
