Favorite Rainy Day Activities?

When it is raining outside, what kinds of activities do your kids like to do? We are trying to find more ideas to keep my 3 year old busy.

I like to go to the mall and let my daughter run run run! We usually go to West County Mall and park at Macys and then I let my daughter run all the way through the mall to the kids play area at the other side. Then when we are done she runs all the way back to Macys and almost always falls asleep in the car.

Let’s Make Play-Dough!

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 cup water
1 tablespoon oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Food coloring

Mix dry ingredients in a saucepan. Add oil, water and food coloring and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat when dough begins to pull away from the sides of the saucepan and forms a ball. Pour out and knead a few minutes. Store play-dough in a plastic bag or airtight container.

WARNING: Use of play-dough can cause creativity to go wild!


Making the play dough is as much fun as playing with it. Children love to help stir and knead.

The Rainbow Play Systems store in Chesterfield has FREE open play on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am until noon INSIDE. Your kids can play on the displayed swingsets and play equipment.

This is a great idea for a rainy day or when it is too cold or hot to play outside.
