I am soooo tired of people, especially on particular person who doesn't even have a child yet ( well she is due in about a week) badgering my about "is she potty trained yet"? And then going on to tell me what I am doing wrong. I feel like I am constantly explaining that we as a family are not ready yet. My dd just turned 2 and she was recently weened and we will be moving soon so until things settle down I WILL NOT BE POTTY TRAINING! Yes she is old enough but I don't want to throw too many things at one time. Thanks for listening, maybe now it will not bother me as much next time someone in my office ask "is she potty trained yet"?

I can TOTALLY relate to this!!
My son is 3 1/2 and not potty trained. This is not because of lack of trying on our part. He is just obviously not ready. I'm an older mom than most of my friends, so it has been a long time since most of them potty trained. When they keep asking if my son is and then tell me how young there kids were, I usually ask how long their kids continued to have accidents. Funny that most say their kids were potty trained at 18-24 months old, but yet they were having daily accidents. That is not potty trained, in my opinion! I find it interesting that your friend is giving advice even though she has never officially been there. I would probably respond as "all kids are different and therefore not every kid is as easily or quickly trained as some." Then kick in a "Some day you'll understand!" I think you are right to wait until the big changes you mentioned are over and you guys are more settled down. It will be less stressful for everyone. Good luck and keep us posted on how your move goes! |
