History of the Blood The cult of the Blood was formed shortly after the first eight deities had been established in Meliora. At the beginning, they were a small group of theologians from Istien who had some radical beliefs about beings they first refereed to as 'The Creator Forces' but eventually coined the term 'Spirits of Nature'. These men believed that the Spirits had made Meliora and given its citizens magic in the days before Leviathon. However, the Spirits grew angry then the Meliorans didn't worship them as they should. They sent Leviathon to take away the gifts they had given to Meliora. Once Leviathon had done its job, the Spirits introduced exceedingly powerful individuals able to gift others with magic to Meliora. The men believed that these individuals were supposed to be representatives of the spirits, directing Meliorans to worship the spirits. Instead, the individuals instituted themselves as deities. The theologians decided that everything wrong that happens in Meliora is indirectly the fault of these 'gods'. They believe that if they aid Leviathon in returning to set things right again the Spirits will forgive Meliora and give them the power of the old gods so that they may direct worship to the spirits.
The cult remained small for hundreds of years, and was composed mostly of radical scholars and religious zelots, but just recently they have flourished. It began when a the demon queen of a northern kingdom called Harorcazgl came to Meliora in search of her sister. She stumbled upon the cult and was intrigued by the power Leviathon supposedly offered, as it was her ambition to become demon empress of all the northern kingdoms. She brought few hundred demons into Meliora secretly, and rose through the cult's ranks to become High Priestess, the mouthpiece of Leviathon. She used the events of the rebellion to gain more followers, saying that the spirits were already beginning to punish Meliora for its sins.
She has made secret alliances with the Dark Goddess, Veshka, and the recently restored God of Fate, Calixto. Kalush had also mobilized the Infernium, Harorcazgl's army, to invade Meliora. Her plan? To kidnap one of the ultimate sinners, a deity, and give Leviathon their body as a vessel to do his work.
