Why 'canons'?
The following characters are important to Meliora. They are somewhat pre-made to allow characters to refer to them, but with the magic power of Ret-Con, we can change these details to a limited extent (we can are willing to change Charlotte Reid's hair color, but not her crippling psychological damage).
We have largely included only basic information, to allow for as much creativity as possible, but you are strongly encouraged to keep to any information marked IMPORTANT on the character sheet if you choose to apply for the character.

We do allow players to NPC these characters, provided they are not currently owned, but even when being NPCed they should demonstrate at least a theoretical adherence to these guidelines provided.

Please note that while we do list deities as canons, you have the freedom to replace these deities with your own when applying (assuming they are not already owned). When applying for a god/goddess position, you are free to create your character entirely on your own, but if you choose to simply expand on the NPC we have created, that is also your prerogative.

If you wish to play a canon, you MUST have another character that you have used for at least 2 weeks, in order to ensure that you are at least somewhat involved in Meliora.
Furthermore, you may not have more than THREE plot-essential characters at any one time. If you need a character for a certain plot you're running, there's no reason you can't just NPC that character. I mean, unless he's not yours, but if you're applying for that character, then...you know what I mean let's move on.
If you're applying for a Canon, you can post your application with your MAIN ACCOUNT. If there are multiple applicants for one Canon position, the Admin will decide on the best application by vote (this will be a secret ballot so you don't hate us if we didn't vote for you).
Once your application has been accepted, you may create the account and go right on with playing that character.

Any details that are not listed here are open to your creativity. The only thing that is asked is that you use the following information and try to create a realistic character that is strongly based, in general, on what is described.

EXAMPLE: Queen Charlotte is described as a highly religious woman who suffers from a mild case of PTSD (though naturally, Meliorans would not call it that, having no knowledge of psychology) after extensive torture in the Lucius Rebellions, and thus somewhat irrationally hates the Lucian Free State.
This should give someone applying as this character a decent idea of how she should be developed and played; she could be developed as a terrible dictator, a la every Wicked Witch character ever, or someone who is attempting to overcome her difficulties to rule her people successfully, even if she fails at it, or anything else that would make sense.
However, if someone went and applied for her as a happy-go-lucky libertarian ruler who frequently hits on the ambassador from the Lucian Free State, insta-rejection!
So please stick to the information we have provided, though if you really feel that something needs to be changed to make the character more usable or playable, by all means hit up one of us by PM. Probably me (Doc), since I have the strongest views on the matter.
