Hala Hatim {Female}{25}{Human- Daesertare}
Player Name: Moxy
Preferred Method of Contacting: myuniversalsign@yahoo.com
How did you find Meliora? RP Directory
Other Characters: none at the moment

Name: Hala Amina Hatim
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Follower of: The goddess of time: Ty. But mostly follows the way of her people in believing that the Spirits of Nature are the higher power.
Occupation:
Equestrian; captures/buys horses and then turns back around after a bit more training of the beasts and resells them. As well as giving lessons and other services to an equine. Farrier/blacksmith, dentistry, and medical care for the animals.

Personality:
Hala is a very intelligent individual. Quick to think and quick to act, but almost as quick to judge. She likes people don’t get me wrong. But she is very cautious about who and what she is talking to. This woman could be considered very down to earth. Believing what she sees and taking things in stride. She can also be a very inquisitive soul, ready to learn new things. After all you only have one life to live, might as well be knowledgeable in as much as possible. Sometimes Hal can be very outgoing when she wants to be and almost as equally spontaneous in her actions. But somehow most of her actions seem to be planned ahead. But do not anger this fem. Oh boy does she have a temper when provoked. It doesn’t take too much prodding for her to ‘go off’. But she lets people have a few chances, or ‘strikes’ if you will before biting their heads off. Not literally of course, but she will blow a cork.

Appearance:

Darla baker

A slender built girl with almost fairy like features. Hollow and whimsical, and could be seconded guessed as a nymph of the earth. But she is far from being one of the magical creatures of the land. Classical facial features and soft angles about her chin and cheeks. Bright blue eyes stand out against her slightly tanned skin and dark brown hair. The brunette tresses hang down to the middle of her back with a slightly wavy appearance. Agile and athletically muscular, such is how and equestrian should be. Stands about five foot five inches, give or take a few centimeters. Her hands are slightly callused from years of use. There are various scars from bumps and scratches from stumbles upon troublesome equines and fights with a few unsuspected vegetations (hay splinters hurt like hell!). But other than that there appears to be nothing wrong with her.

Weaponry:
As if the small knife kept at her hip could be considered a real weapon. But the 6 inch blade can come quiet in handy getting out of sticky situations. And cutting oneself loose from things.

Armory:
The most armory this girl wears is think leather layering to protect herself from the elements when they are at their worst, or when faced against a horse that seems to wish to have her pounded into the ground rather than behave and learn to ride like a sophisticated being.

Her clothing tends to lean towards the drape-like side. A usual appearance for the women of her tribe. Where traditionally the females would wear dresses. But it’s hard to teach and ride a horse in a dress. So she likes to wear black slacks and brown boots, with a tight fitting undershirt, and flowing tunic blouse or caftan style over shirt.

History:
Horses run within her people’s blood. No seriously they do. Its either walk or ride. But to ride you need a beast willing to bear a humans weight. Her family was one of the groups that decided that it was quicker and much easier to travel upon the backs of the majestic equines. But that had been declared long before her birth. They were considered horse people. Raising, breeding, and training the creatures to the best of their knowledge. This after a few generations seemed well educated in the beasts.

Hala was born to Basim Issa Hatim and his wife Aamina Nasira Hatim the third daughter out of four children created by the couple. But the fourth was not to come just yet. Her brother would be younger than her by a few years. At an early age the girl showed a distinguishable interest in the horses of the tribe. When not within the sights of her mother Hala could be found out watching or playing with the herd as they grazed. Sometimes the younger would be found sleeping with some of the older mares as they lay in the mobile stable.

She learned the laws of her people, the religious thinking, learned basic knowledge such as writing (the tribe were meticulous record keepers of their equus friends) and reading. Upon learning this information is when she decided that even though she would pray to the Spirits of Nature she would honor the goddess of time. For time controls everything, without it things would not grow, or move forward.

But as she grew so did her interest in horses. She would follow a few of the other clansmen out into the pastures and watch them break and train yearlings into the ride able steeds that were needed for the tribe. When strong enough she was allowed to join in the activities. Doing small things at first before finally able to teach a horse herself. Years and years of practice soon created the experienced Equestrian she is today. During her teachings she claimed one such beast as her own. One that she trained and chooses to be her personal Equine. A glorious Chestnut mare named Naja.

At the age of 20 her nomadic tendencies grew stronger than the usual Daesertares. With the blessings of her father and mother she was allowed to venture around a little on her own. But Hala was always told that home would welcome her, no matter where they were. So now she spends some months around the continent and the remaining time back home with her beloved clan. She offers her equestrian services to almost any who request it. Using her knowledge and abilities as a way of life.

QUOTE
Why on earth would anyone be out at night? well except for those creatures that deemed and claimed that they ruled the darkness and shadows of the lunar light world. But that was something easily explained and understood. But why would anyone of the human sorts be wondering around the town with nothing to protect them? Well Theodora was asking herself that same exact question as she quietly slinked along the darkened topography. The whole time kicking herself for being stupid enough to follow her a group of her ‘friends’ to a party. Psh…parties were defiantly not all they were cracked up to be. Seeing as when you go out with a group of friends you are suppose to stick together and figure out how everyone is going to get safely home, what time to leave, etc. But no, the moment they arrived at the location everyone disappeared leaving Theo to be the wall-flower and stand near the doorway. Well after an hour of that mess it was time to leave. Except when she went to find people, she couldn’t. Its nice how some people blend well into crowds. So that left her to scurry home alone. And next time they ask her to go along, her answer is going to be “oh hell no!” That’s if she makes it back to the dormitories in one piece.

Curly light brown tresses fell down across the shoulders of the jean jacket she wore. I know so retro right? But it was cool in her book so there was no point not to wear the thing, especially when it was decorated with nifty little pins and buttons with smart remarks and cute little sayings that she couldn’t pass up pinning where everyone could see them. The jacket covered the black tank top that covered to torso. Dark washed jeans clung to the flesh of her legs, slightly flaring in a boot leg cut towards the hemline. The jeans were cinched to her midsection by a shiny little belt buckle with the Celtic knot of eternity etched elegantly into it. And last but not least to finish her attire, black sneakers. Comfortable and functional all wrapped in a pretty little bow.

“How did you ever get yourself into this mess?”

The college student mumbled to the night air. Her hands were stuffed into the pockets of her coat. Severe ice colored orbs echoed the irritation that was raging beneath the surface of her calmed and yet stern façade. So far the walk had been peaceful. No sense of being followed, stalked, or hunted. This was always a good thing. No sounds or noises that she couldn’t’ explain, and she did not have the need to flinch or run away from the slightest noise. Either she was getting braver, or stupider as the night went on. Either way, her intention was to get home. the soles of her shoes scuffled lightly against the dirt surface of the park’s landscape. It was a short cut back to the campus Or so she had thought. One of the bozo’s back at the party had the keys to the car so she couldn’t highjack the vehicle for the night and come back for them in the morning. And money for a cap was out of the question.

A deep sigh escaped the pink painted lips of the being. She was not really paying attention to the trees and shrubbery around her. This might have been a stupid move on her part. Okay so there is no ‘might have been’… it was. But sleep deprivation and anger suppressed the survival skills drilled into her mind by her parents. ‘Please... If someone wanted to eat me that badly they would have done so already.’ She thought to herself. Shaking her head the female turned to gaze to the ground and continued her forward motion.

Just looking for a wee bit of clarification/expansion in the personality section so we can get a better idea of who Hala is. smile.gif

After a quick read, it sounds a bit contradictory, but I think I can understand Hala fairly well now. I think you should just flesh this section out a bit to offer some more info which will make things clear without adding unnecessary information. What I typically do is pick out prominent characteristics and do a paragraph for each, which helps me realize what's missing or what needs expansion, but that's often too much (political/religious opinions are good to include- I always put them in). tongue.gif I recommend just offering a tad bit more information on how she approaches problems (to explain how she can take things in stride but also have a strong temper, and what things really bother her), and you should add some information on her goals (long-term or short-term, whatever she wants to accomplish- it helps a lot with plotting!). Perhaps adding in a little something about how she interacts with friends/family would be beneficial as well.

Once you make those edits to her personality (primarily the bit regarding her personal goals, and some clarification on how she approaches problems), adding a few things in, and changing anything else you may want to, just post a reply here or send a PM my way, and I think Hala will be ready for approval. biggrin.gif
