The Harry Potter series is a creation of J.K. Rowling. Most characters belong to the books and belong to her; we thank her for giving us the ideas of using them for a RPG. MPC has no contact with her even though we wish we could! The skin was created by Tariq of IF Skin Zone (see links at bottom of page for source). Other images created by me, Erin, with help from Tariq and Nicole from KHRPF. Plot and sub-plots created by Erin. If anything gets taken, you will have severely upset me and you should plan on running far, far away. Thank you for everybody’s help that has made this site what it is, especially the members, young and old.

THE MERMAID MASQUERADE

user posted image user posted image

Deep down in the murky water of the Black Lake are the creatures that men wish to see and women wish to be. The tails that replace the legs of the creatures are vibrant blues, greens, and purples, their scales shined by the sand they so happen to brush past, and their hair, tangled and enwrapped in shells and seaweed, are majestic whites, reds, blacks, and every other color in the spectrum. The way their hands are so elegant and strong with the way they web for adequate swimming. Their skin is anything but tan with the lack of sun that shines into their depths. If looking tan, it is mostly likely the dirt smudged into their cells of flesh. Eyes of pupils are full of passion and fierceness. Merfolk who live down in the darkness shriek to the other as their gills move in and out. These are the creatures most sought after for a glimpse by the students - majestic, malicious creatures.

Throughout the years, the merfolk had been peaceful, but as the students came and went, their hostility grew. Students had been doing anything and everything just to see if they really existed. Students set off fireworks down there, startling and upsetting all of those that held a tail and a set of gills. The relationship between the creatures and the witches and wizards had been on the brink of destruction, the merfolk ready to retaliate. Yet, things were settled with the way the professors came and settled with a bargain. They wanted company in their world underwater and friendship was what they’d get. This brought upon the Mermaid Masquerade.

The lake was enchanted for the night. How was it enchanted? The students with their shiny buffed shoes or dazzling, high heels would be able to walk upon the water as if a layer of glass were covering the whole lake. Twinkle lights of white, pinks, purples, and blue crisscrossed underneath the layer of glass, marking a path and dance floor, being the main source of light out on the lake. Strange it was to walk on water. Tables were decorated with what seemed to be fishing net with sea stars, shells, and barnacles tangled in the strands of netting. Jellyfish seemed to float around above them like stars, but offered no sting to the touch of the plasmic tentacles that make up their lower half and the orb on top. While the glass seemed sturdy, it seemed anything but with the way the mermen and mermaids glided up to the surface to watch those with legs dance, to sing their eerie tunes, and to form bonds with the students that were there.

Men are wearing tuxes of soft colors, no standard black here with their ties and bow ties looking like the scales that dawn the back of their tale. Women are wearing dresses with glitter, sequins, and vibrant colors that look like they carry tales. The masks match their dresses or ties studded in fake fish scales the color of seaweed or sand, each shadowing something of the sea; a fish, a dolphin, or a turtle. They dance to the way the harps strings strum and with the croon of the merfolk. The underwater is the scene for this theme.

“Zoon, zoon, cuddle and croon –
Over the crinling sea,
The moon man flings him a silvered net
Fashioned of moonbeams three.

And some folk say when the net lies long
And the midnight hour is ripe;
The moon man fishes for some old song
That fell from a sailor’s pipe.

And some folks say that he fishes the bars
Down where the dead ships lie,
Looking for lost little baby stars
That slid from the slippery sky.

And the waves roll out and the waves roll in
And the nodding night wind blows,
But why the moon man fishes the sea
Only the moon man knows.”

WELCOME,
ONE AND ALL,
