Scarlet Augusta Longbottom was certainly having a bad day, if her face didn't express it then her green eyes certainly did. They were flashing with annoyance, outrage and a little bit embarrassment. Scarlet wasn't generally a visitor in this part of the castle but then every student in his or her days in Hogwarts had to come here, in Hospital Wing, at least once. It was almost an unwritten rule, and nearly everyone followed it. Although the rule had been followed by Scarlet at least thrice, it seemed she was a keen rule follower. For she was here, again. She muttered a few unlady-like words and her mum would have been disappointed in her. 'But she isn't here to know it.' Her mind said so Scarlet continued her unlady-like words for a few more moments. However, Scarlet wasn't all that used to say those words aloud and was soon silent.
She looked about herself and found that she wasn't the only one in the Wing but then, there hardly was a time when the Wing was completely empty. The students always found one reason or another to find themselves in this wretched part of the castle. Scarlet noticed that there were two other people other than her because there were only two beds where the curtains were put properly. The pain in her ankle was too much to bear and her eyes were watering despite her attempts to do otherwise. She simply didn't want to cry over something that was as normal and minimal as a sprained ankle. It hurt like hell but she was a girl who had gumption and according to her, it was time to show it. She looked at the bed at near the wall and heard someone murmur something. She deduced that that was where the school nurse was and heaved a sigh. She was going to have to wait if she wanted immediate remedy for the blasted ankle.
She felt for her ankle and found that the dear, old ankle had swollen. 'Oh great! That just makes my day.', she thought, irritated. There was Charms class just after twenty minutes and if she didn't reach on time, her dad was going to know about it as the Charms professor and her father were....good friends. Damn! She shifted her foot slightly and the move sent the pain shooting from her ankle to her toes, Scarlet made a moue of distress and pain but clamped her mouth shut after that. There were more serious cases in the world and she was crying over a sprained ankle? Well, it simply wasn't done, now, was it? Hufflepuff house was known for their loyalty, compassion and currently, Scarlet felt as if she didn't have any of those stirling qualities. In fact, she wanted to curse someone or better yet, hex someone into the next century simply because she was in pain and others weren't. But then, human nature always was a complicated and complex, it never acted the way it was supposed to or the way it was anticipated.
Scarlet was no exception, she had waited for over ten minutes and the pain hadn't gone one bit. She was getting cranky and before she completely went into a crabby mood, she called out to the nurse. Her voice came hoarse as if she had shouted too much whereas she hadn't talked for the last hour. She said, "Excuse me, Madam. I am still here, you know? My ankle is sprained and I don't know any healing charms or any potions or balms for the pain to go away. Please, madam, would you come over and examine it?
She hoped her voice had reached the ears of the School Nurse, her voice felt strange, hoarse and gritty and she didn't understand the reason for it. Was she ill? Some kind of flu or something? Merlin, she hoped not. She so not needed it right now, in fact, she needed illness as much as she needed a hole in her head. Which meant that she didn't need it at all. She grimaced and she touched her ankle and held it in her hand. Ohhhh! It hurt!
