Name: The Science, Engeneering, and Technology Intergalactic Council (SETIC). Founding: 800 CE, 1246 GS Allegiance: Citadel species Location: Citadel Presidium, in a unassuming building across from the Citadel Tower entrance
Roster: 4 to 6 members from every species represented on the Citadel. Numbers fluctuate as members can come and go as they please once they are accepted into the ranks. Agenda: The advancement of knowledge for the benefit of all species through the sharing of information between members Membership: Membership is by invitation only and only the most intelligent from each species are ever asked to join. Once a potential member accepts the formal invitation (delivered in person by the lead representative on SETIC from the prospects species) they must go through a six month trial phase before full membership privileges are extended.
Description: Formed after the Krogan Rebellions, SETIC was formed as a inter-species version of DARPA. It receives an unlimited budget from the Citadel Council and the most intelligent beings in the known galaxy fill its seats. SETIC members have been responsible for most of the greatest technological advancements in the past 1000 (CE) years. Since the existence of the Reapers and the true origins of Prothean technology came to light its members have been working at a breakneck pace, revisiting old theories and ideas from before each species discovered Prothean ruins, to try and develop independent technologies that Citadel species can employ as a replacement to Prothean ones. Success has been limited, although great strides have been made in the arena of interstellar travel without use of mass relays.
