So I have one reasonable hybrid, one mostly-purebred... INSANE HYBRID TIEMZ

Species: Mom: Psychic Delcatty. Dad: Delibird/Dragonair (yes it works, Dragonair and Delibird can breed and Delibird is also in the Ground breeding group)

Ability: Shed (inherited from Dragonair side, has a 1 in 3 chance of getting rid of status effects each turn)

Appearance:

Aquila's body and colors are those of a Psy-Skitty, her stubby paws and soft violet fur looking quite normal. But her face marking seems to favor Delibird's, and her tail Dragonair's. A small white horn pokes out of her forehead.

Personality: Aquila is cheery, calm, and polite. She likes to be around others, and will happily spend hours talking to a single person. She is, however, rather morbid.

History: Aquila was raised by her parents, a sweet, kind Psychic Delcatty and a distant Delibird-Dragonair hybrid with a rather morbid take on life. She learned from both of them, though her mother would have rather not had her learn from her dad. As soon as she was able to live on her own, her dad kicked her out... and so there her adventure starts.

Sorry, would have gotten to this sooner, but I have had much business (32-hour work weekend with homework is not fun).

Anyway, I took a look at it with some of the staff, and the general consensus seems to be disagreement with the breeding group issue.

It may not be clearly stated in the rules, but the hybrids are intended to be restricted entirely to the Ground group. It is not that you could not do these kinds of things, true. However, we have seen problems before when entirely opening up breeding group barriers on other sites, problems that are particularly desired to be avoided.

If you want to go into the extreme technicality which I am sometimes regarded as doing, dragons (in theory, as compared to reptiles), birds, and felines are vastly different physiologically. Delibird and Farfetch'd are somewhat the odd ones out in the Ground group, and mostly seem to be included for the sake of breeding as a game mechanic. To attempt to combine their traits in a lab would be pretty disastrous. A front pair of limbs lost to wings in a cat would cause inability to walk, run, or pounce (as they do to hunt), and would not be strong enough (or set in the correct position) to cause enough lift for flight assuming proper build for a feline.

Look at Shed Skin, as well--I hope your kitty is not sheding her pelt, because mammilian skin is not easy to grow back! Cats shed fur, but they will not up and drop off continuous patches of skin. Large quantities of skin--or large breaks in it--are grown back with essentially useless connective tissue in the manner of a scar (the first time, it would become a scar and cease to produce the essential nutrients provided by cells in the skin).

Anyway, enough deep-down detail for now. I talked around, and I found it generally understood that it was supposed to be limited to Ground-group-only hybrids. However, it is not explicitly stated anywhere, so it is partially left to interpretation, and was one of the primary weaknesses in the rules that I sought to correct in proposing a new draft.

Haha, I had a feeling you'd take all of those issues with it. This was just to see how much lols I could get out of a completely WTF hybrid. And I did mean more of a Shed Fur than a Shed Skin type thing xD

Dun worry, I was fully prepared for this. ...but what about an Ekans hybrid then? How does THAT work? THey're ground-group, yeah, but if there can be an Ekans-Meowth, I dun see why not a Dragonair-Skitty.

Shedding fur is a little more of a continuous thing... which happens an annoying amount in the summer. *has cat hair on black jacket*

Ekans is actually rather biologically similar, in some ways, to the other acceptable breeds... internally. There are obvious adaptational differences, and the fact that it is a reptile as opposed to a mammal is obviously a challenge for development, but in some ways, it is not all that unfeasible.

The major problem is that there are no real diagrams of the anatomy of a dragon because they are not real creatures. Essentially, they are imcomparable for that reason. I am also not about to argue with the developers (or my other staff) on the point that they should be compatible, either.
