Grayrock Pass [X]
Leading from the Central Pier into the Maiaran Desert is Grayrock Pass. It lives up to its name, as it is made mostly of gray rock. The terrain is clear enough and the elevation is low enough for most Pokémon to pass. Rock Pokémon live here, and some aren't happy about just anyone passing through at any time...

Burning Sands [X]
The vast dune sea in the desert is called the Burning Sands--and rightfully so! During the day, the temperature soars to highs unmatched anywhere else on the island. At night, however, it becomes quite cold. The place is quiet, with virtually no sound except the wind. But this place is far from worthless. Guess you'll have to find out why for yourself, though.

Ruin Oasis [Unclaimed]
Near the northeast corner of the desert is a very large oasis. The water is clean and tastes very good, excellent after a long trek through the sands. Some plants grow around this oasis, including plenty of fruit-bearing trees and shrubs. A large stone ruin sits next to the water, a massive tree sticking out of the center. It looks as if the ruins were build around the tree. What could that mean?

Fire Mountain [X]
In the range to the south of the desert, there is one mountain accessible only from this side. It is an active volcano. Lava sometimes flows from the crater and vents, though it almost never actually erupts. Supposedly, if you can make it to the crater, you can meet with the Guardian Bird Moltres and receive blessings. But this is a very perilous journey. Almost no one makes it to the top and lives to tell about it...

Moving Dunes [X]
In the center of the desert is a very strange portion of dunes that never seems to look the same. These are the Moving Dunes, which are famous for constantly changing shape in the strong winds. Lightweight Pokémon may have trouble maneuvering in these gusts. However, supposedly something lies under these sands... something that they were put there to protect.

Gray Wastes [Unclaimed]
The westernmost portion of the desert is slightly less dry than the rest. It is covered not in sand, but rather solid dirt, which is covered in shrubs and cacti that can withstand the harsh climate. It is somewhat rocky here, but not enough to make it hard to traverse. Unlike the dunes, you could live here for as long as you'd like.
