Here is the start of my Khorne Daemon army. The Bloodletters are not based yet since I'm waiting for wooden square bases from Litko. Comments appreciated.

Here are the 6 Bloodletters that will probably be on front rank

Very crisp sculpting, nice work. Upright BLs for the win! smile.gif

Upright is the way to go!

Very good the abdominals look well done, and girdle like belts look very smooth.

You have definitely figured out the adding of creases with your sculpting to do the abdominals, I would recommend just adding some slight creases and folds on the tabbards up towards the belts. One thing with the flat and smooth tabbard and with these standing upright, it will give you the ability to paint some freehand khorne symbols on the tabbards.

Good job.

Edit: Wooden square bases?

Thank you both for your comments and yes, the flat tabbards will indeed allow me to try some freehand symbols.

I hope I'm able to explain clearly. Since there are no angle on the edges the these bases the models will be in contact with each other for an even more coherent feel to the unit. I ordered the bases from http://www.litkoaero.com/. I should be receiving them in a week or so. I'll then be able to assemble some to show you what I mean.

First test model is done. Think it is too dark so I'll have to start with a slightly brighter red than Vallejo Hull Red, maybe Vallejo Burnt Cad. Red. The sword will be repainted to give it more impact. Let me know what you think.

It is looking very sharp so far. I like the colors, quite smooth. I would say, he does need to get a bit brighter red and then I think you will see the colors pop. Burnt cad. red would probably look real good, I think Vallejo Red would also work.

Looks like on the sword that you used really dark colors, maybe blacks to shade the metal. I like to use a wash of purple, which gives a sort of unnatural hue to the metal, then follow up with the black and dark browns.

Second Bloodletter. The red is a bit brighter but sadly does not really show in pictures. I started with Burnt Cad. Red. For the blade I tried to simulate running blood, as if the blade was producing it. Quite difficult to take pictures of since it is very glossy.

Seems a touch brighter. I have found it very hard to photograph reds. I like them. I like the change in the sword also. Well done.

First unit is assembled. It is going to be a unit of 10 while the second one will be a unit of 20. Quite a headache to assemble I must say. The upright ones are finally not only to look good and different, they are essential to make the unit rank properly.

It is, isn't it. They are much more suited to 40k than fantasy. You did alright though. The one thing I would definitely recommend is to save the ones that hold the swords straight up and down for the mid portions of the ranks, especially if you do a unit of 20. Standing them up straight definitely helps, standing the swords up in the middle of the unit helps even more.

Excellent work.

I am tempted to get a box of these for some conversions for my WoC army. Maybe I will post some pics of what I have made so far...

Good luck with the unit of 20!

I'm almost done with the demon prince, only need to finish the base. It is a simple head swap with a bit of putty work to make it fit the model. Sadly my camera (or most probably my lack of skill with it) does not show the depth and movement this model has sad.gif.

That's cool looking. Neat hair, sort of Predator like, I'm actually surprised that the Belakor head works with that model. Definitely looks like a Prince.

Love the colors, the bronze/brass is really well done. Good stuff. The rider is very good also. Only suggestion I would have is, how about some trim colors for the breaking up all of the brass.
