When Sailor Moon defeated Chaos, the Guardian Cosmos of the Galaxy Cauldron gave her a choice. She and the other senshi could return to being stars in the Cauldron forever, or return back to the lives they had before. She chose the latter, and she and her friends were returned to Earth to live out their lives as normal citizens. They no longer carried the burden of being the planet’s protectors, their sailor crystals staying behind in the Galaxy Cauldron where they could dwell in peace under the watchful eyes of the Guardian Cosmos.
However, things did not go exactly as planned. The Guardian Cosmos soon foresaw a future threat to the universe and was forced to pluck the sailor crystals from their peaceful slumber to be reborn into the bodies of a set of girls who would become the new sailor senshi. In addition, the Guardian Cosmos sent forth the special starseeds of the former prince of Earth and his four loyal generals to also be reborn and help with the new threat.
The threat that the Guardian Cosmos foresaw has been alive for ages. Functioning as a parasite, it latches onto worlds and proceeds to drain them of their resources by using the minions it has created to cause massive amounts of pain and suffering through any means possible. Known only as The Ending, the parasite is bent on gathering as much power as it can so that it can ultimately discover the hidden location of the Galaxy Cauldron and gain control of it. If The Ending were to accomplish this, all life would simply cease to exist. And now, The Ending has set its sights on Earth to find the key to the cauldron’s location.
The year is now 2008. The Ending has finally made it to Earth and has begun the task of finding the key it holds. Day after day various natural disasters are occurring around the globe, the work of The Ending’s loyal minions who are seeking to give their master enough power to accomplish its sinister task. The Guardian Cosmos has taken further action by sending down its own servant to find and awaken the new senshi and their allies. Together they must stand against The Ending. Otherwise, it could mean the end of everything they hold dear.
Moonlit Souls takes place in the modern world that we all currently live in. More specifically, most of the action will be revolving around Alameda County, California. All characters will be members of the town’s community, whether they are students just trying to make it through the trials and tribulations of high school, or plain adults working to make ends meet and pay their bills on time. We want to emphasize that this will be a slice of life game with the added bonus of elements from the Sailor Moon series thrown in to spice things up. Yes, characters will eventually be thrown into dangerous situations, but we want the game to have a broader focus than just senshi business. We encourage you to give thought into applying as a normal character that has normal worries like trying to graduate or making the cheer leading squad. You don’t have to be a magical girl with cool powers in order to have fun here!
