Hello & Welcome to The Green Dragon Gaming Club's presence on the world wide web!
Here's a brief FAQ on who we are, what we do, where we meet, and how you can get in on the action. If you have any questions, let me know! The Green Dragon Gaming Club – The Green Dragons Who Are We? The Green Dragon Gaming Club is a group of enthusiastic and mature gamers from in an around the greater Philadelphia, PA, area dedicated to playing Games Workshop’s Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Warhammer Skirmish, Mordheim, Warhammer 40K, Battle Fleet Gothic, Space Hulk, and related games. Our club started out of the simple desire to bring together a group of like-minded individuals to have fun playing Warhammer and related games in a relaxed competitive atmosphere. We’ve been around informally since 1994. Our members range in ages from the mid-20's and up, with a diversity of backgrounds including students, factory workers, managers, engineers, professionals, lawyers, and even a college professor or two. We're fairly geographically diverse as well, with players coming in from as far out as Aston, Collegeville, Coatesville, Lancaster, Pottstown, West Chester, Yardley, and even Delaware. Our members range from experienced players who can give a seasoned veteran a challenge to relatively new players just learning the game. Want to learn a bit more about who we are, check out our Club Bio thread: The Green Dragon Gaming Club Bios (link, click me) What Do We Do? We strive to create a relaxed competitive atmosphere where like-minded individuals can get together and have fun playing the games we all enjoy. Considering the many demands that life places on us and the commitments that many of us have with our jobs, families, children, activities, and life in general, we do our best to meet as a club at least one day a month for a day of gaming and fun. Our gaming day is typically a Saturday and will typically run from 1:00 PM in the afternoon through the day – often wrapping up somewhere around 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM in the morning, for those of us crazy enough and willing to hang out. If you’re looking to meet and play more often than that, some of us post notices as to when and where we might be playing outside our regularly scheduled games day. Feel free to post an Introduction or Game Scheduling thread in our General Discussion Forum. General Discussion Forum (link, click me) More often we arrange games by email with other club members. We also host a variety of campaigns and events for our members. Some events, like the Lords of Albion Campaign (for which this forum was originally created), are run for the wider gaming community where anyone anywhere in the world can participate if they wish. Other events, like our Border Princes Campaign from The General’s Compendium supplement, are run solely for our club members. We've run a variety of Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K Campaigns exclusively for our club members. There is even talk of an expanded map-based Mordheim campaign coming in 2010. So, stay tuned! For coverage of our Club WFB Tourney on September 20, 2008 as an example of one of our club events, see Green Dragons 3rd Annual WFB Tourney (link, clicky, clicky). As a Club, we also promote and attend various tournaments on occasion. The majority of our members tend to prefer more casual gaming, but don't be surprised if you see a few of us out at a tourney event. We do our best to promote those venues and tournaments that we feel provide the best atmosphere for our players. Check out our coverage from the 2005 North East Warhammer Club Championship Tournament (NEWCC) - (to be posted one day when I get around to it A handful of our club players at a Warhammer Fantasy Tourney from a few years back. ![]() Where Do We Play? We typically rotate between meeting at the house of our Club Captain and at the home of another club member. Our Club Captain has a dedicated gaming area with one 4'x6', two 4'x8', and one 4'x4' gaming tables with all the associated terrain and goodies, accommodating up to 10-12 players. It's a bit tight with a full house, but it works. Our other hosting member has four 4'x8' tables and one 4'x6' table available, easily accommodating 10-14+ players. We've held club days at local area stores in the past, but it can be difficult to find a place for us when even the majority of our members show up to play. Aside from playing together at our club days and events, many of our Club Members have been known to frequent Showcase Comics at the Granite Run Mall in Media, PA; The Compleat Strategist in King of Prussia, PA; The Games Keep, LLC in West Chester, PA; and a few other various stores and locations. Our two 4'x8' and one 4'x6' table with two 4'x1' connecting bridges set up for apocalypse from our November 2007 game. ![]() How Can I Become a Part of the Team? If we sound like your cup of tea (or coffee if you prefer), come and check us out! Since you’re already looking at our on-line forum, you’ve taken the first step. If you haven’t registered on our forum, I encourage you to do so. There’s no cost involved, you just need to register for the site to be able to post on the forum and interact with the other members of our club and our forum through this web site. If you want to learn to play or you’re just looking for a game, why not drop a post in the General Discussion Forum to see when you can get a game in with one of us. We’re happy to meet at a local store to get to know each other. Game Scheduling Forum (link, click me) We’re a pretty open Club. We don’t charge a fee for membership or ask for anything from you other than that you conduct yourself in a suitable manner that promotes our gaming hobby and does not bring yourself, others, the hobby, or our club into disrepute. Membership to our club is by invitation. If a Club Member invites you to join the team and you’re invitation is approved by the Club Captain, you’re on the team! Please note that our membership is an adult-oriented gaming club. While we are happy to game with anyone in a public setting, we prefer to reserve our private gaming sessions for like-minded adults ages 21+. Thank you for your understanding. If you have questions, feel free to contact any of us by email or private message (PM) through this forum. Cheers, Zak (Vaprak) Club Captain rev 112509-1 |
