(Takai Iwasaki) Nickname(s): As a kid in Japan, many of his friends used to call him Taka-kun. His older sister, who used to dote on him frequently also called him Taka-chan, to his dismay. He was also once called Taka-Taka by one of his teachers. Age: 16 Voice: Until he was 13, Takai lived in the Hokkaido area of Japan, therefore he has a Japanese accent that to the Japanese would be considered specific to Hokkaido. Dialects spoken in the coastal areas are considered to from the basis of Hokkaido dialects as a whole. These dialects can be devided into the two groups of "Donan" or "southern dialect" and "Matsumae dialect." Both styles of language have cosiderable similarities in terms of pronunciation as exhibited in many words which are characterized by a nasal sound, less distinction between the sounds "shi" and "su" and a falling, ambiguous tone when people speak with a constricted voice using long-held syllables. He has what the Japanese would call the Hokkaido "Donan" dialect, an accent specific to the more southern part of Hokkaido. The "Donan dialect" shows clear evidence of elements which are deviations from the dialect spoken on the Shimokita peninsula in Aomori prefecture across the Tsugaru Straits and it has the strongest identity among Hokkaido dialects. The core of this dialect is represented by a language style spoken in Todohokke village. So, to put it simply, he has a Japanese accent. It isn't super thick, however, for he has been speaking english for at least 6 years. Power(s): Takai was one of the latest people to be genetically altered at Livsk. He has one of the oddest powers in Livsk so far, for this power does not work on a normal 24-hour clock as most do. You see, Takai is affected by the moon and moonlight. During the day, he is a normal human with no special traits. Perhaps he could use basic magic and spells if he wanted, but it isn't as if he knows how. During the day, Takai is as normal as anyone. But during the night, he changes. Into a completely different being, one that seems to be similar to a being that appears in Japanese legends as "the night being". It is also said in those legends that there is a being corresponsive to the one similar to Takai's form, called "the day being". Instead of existing in the night as the night being does, this day being only exists in day, implying that Takai's corresponsive person would change during the day and stay human during night. However, Takai's relation to Japanese legends may just be a coincidence, or it may not. No one really knows. When Takai changes, his hair does not shorten or lengthen, but turns a silver colour. He grows horns that curve downward and are sharp at the tips. Strange, introcate patterns cover his body. A dark blue aura seems to glow from him. He is able to control specific types of darker magic and manipulate shadows. The only permenant change that is seen when Takai is human is his eyes, that have oddly changed to a blood red colour exactly similar to the color of his other form. Before Takai was affected by the moon, his eyes were a dark brown common to many Japanese. (Reference pictures: >>"The Night Being" Form<< >>At night: Night Being changes, Day Being doesn't.<<) Since he is such a distant person, Takai didn't associate with many people. Therefore, when all the kids his age were out partying, Takai was usually alone somewhere. That night was the night of another party. Many of the kids in Livsk were going to this party, it was a birthday bash that Takai, once again, was not invited to. It wasn't as if he cared, anyway. Those things were nothing but immature trouble. In case you're wondering, anyway, why he wasn't invited... First things first, he was anti-social to a T. Many people bored him. He really didn't care if they hated him for this and made fun of him. They were all stupid anyway. Second, most of the youths his age had known each other since primary school. Takai had only gotten here a few years ago. He yawned and lay his head back down on the slopey grass hill, watching the sun go down. It was almost sunset. Oh, fun. Darkness. The raven-haired youth raised his eyebrows a little as he watched the sun go down. Something wasn't right. Takai watched the sun go down on the same spot there every night for 3 years, but this time something was different. When the sun had set, the full moon up in the sky quivered a bit and seemed to glow with more than a light yellow shine. It seemed to radiate on him, as if similar to the sun's heat rays on your skin. His eyes widened with a frightened curiousity as he looked down at his skin to notice...It was bubbling?! A dark aura seemed to radiate from Takai now. He got up and began to run, hoping that this disease...infection...whatever it was would go away. However, it didn't. The aura enveloped his body, causing a searing pain throughout it. He began to grow horns, and change all over. Takai grunted in pain, and fell to the floor...losing conciousness. The next day, the sun was shining brightly in the sky. Takai awoke with a start to realize he was still on the hill. What had happened last night? Oh, yes...That was right...He looked down at his arms and body to realize it was back to normal. Was that all a dream? He'd soon find out that it wasn't. Species/Race: Genetically Altered Human. At night, he doesn't even seem human, but under that oddity, there is a homosapien of Japanese descent. Hobbies: Takai had never taken much interest in instruments, although his parents forced him to take guitar lessons. He knows the guitar and owns one, but does not take much bother to play it as a hobby. It bores him, as many other things do. He is also very talented at drawing, and will occasionally be seen scribbling on a piece of paper. Deep Thought might be considered his hobby, for what he does most days is sit around somewhere, gazing into the distance and thinking. Physical Appearance: Takai would, to many people, be classified as looking asian. He has the slanted eyes and lightly-tan skin of a Japanese person, and raven-black hair that travels down to the nape of his neck. His expression is usually somewhat blank and aloof. (Reference picture: >>During the day, he's normal<<) Clothing: Being as laid back as he is in things such as clothing, Takai has never really cared too much about fashion. He usually wears a casual pair of jeans and t-shirt. However, he is almost always seen wearing his navy-blue hoodie and pair of orange headphones connected to a small mp3-player. Personality: Takai is what you would call aloof. He never seems to care too much about people that aren't important to him, and doesn't usually bother talking to them. If he is adressed, he will respond, but otherwise unless you catch his eye in one way or another he won't bother with you. Takai has been labeled a delinquent, or a young person who defies authority due to his non-committal attitude towards most things and general apathy towards living life. He is very straightforward in his comments to others, seeing as they're usually honest, and will not hesitate to speak his mind, even if he comes off as rude, although at times he can be more sensitive about it. Even despite this, Takai is loyal to those friends he does have, and has been known to dedicate himself for those around him in need of help or support. He generally has a selfless personality once you know him and never does usually ask much from others in return for what he does for them. He is very dry and sarcastic, but also very honest. At times his honesty can hurt, and he can say some pretty darn mean things. He is a deep thinker, and can usually be found gazing off into space with a rather bored expression on. Once you know him, he's quite a bit more than some bored-lazy daydreamer, though. He is a trustworthy person, and when he talks it's usually important, however at times he can be completely random. He's pretty unpredictable and complex. He actually enjoys playing pranks quite a bit. Not nasty ones, but just silly little things like squirting juice up someone's nose when they're spazzing out or changing one word in a sentence. He has a sense of justice, but thinks that he's a lowly delinquent because of his family problems. He has a tendency to try and hide his problems and feelings. Takai is more sensitive than he looks, though, and you can tell when he's embarrassed because he'll usually start blushing pretty badly. Likes: Takai, even though he dislikes playing music, enjoys it greatly. He can almost always be seen with his mp3 and orange headphones. He likes being alone, but he also loves being with his older sister whom he is quite fond of. He also has a fetish for tempura noodles. He also loves things that smell good, and has quite a good sense of smell. Dislikes: Takai hates his uncle above all things. He used to love him, but when his aunt died and his uncle became an abusive alchoholic, things changed. Takai became a bit of a delinquent, and ever since he's hated his uncle with a passion for 'ruining his childhood'. Takai also dislikes people who are overly talkative, bad smells, and people who are to stupid to get his sarcasm. History: Takai was born on July 11th in the city of Hakodate in the Hokkaido part of Japan. He lived with his older sister, Abi, and mother and father until both of his parents died in a car crash when he was 4 years old. Since Takai was so young, he barely remembers his parents. He and Abi moved in with their aunt and uncle. Takai's aunt, whom he loved dearly, died when Takai was 12 years old. A year later, Takai and Abi moved to Livsk without their uncle, who was unsuitable as a caretaker due to his abusic alchoholism and Takai's rebellious ways towards him. Since Abi was old enough care for her younger brother, being 22 years old, this was permissable. They got a small house in Livsk for rent and still live there. When the realm-alterations happened, Takai became the way he was and Abi lost the melanin in both her skin and eyes, her eyes being a light pink now. She also became more sickly. However, her job at the bakery required not much dirty work physically, so she was able to continue working for Takai to maintain his education. Family: Takai was born to Ichimi and Saburo Iwasaki, his mother and father. They were both kind people who cared deeply for their two children. They both died in a tragic car crash when Takai was 4 years old. However, Takai still had his older sister, Abi Iwasaki, who is 6 years older than him. He had an aunt named Yasu Iwasaki who died of leukemia when he was 12 years old. She has loved and cared for him as a mother would alongside her husband, Okito Iwasaki, who became an abusive alchoholic soon after her death. He especially took out his anger on Takai, who grew to hate him. His aunt and uncle had no children themselves from what is known. Other than that, Takai knows little of the rest his family. |
