Mina left Anya's room with a small frown on her face. What was she supposed to do? Anyanka wanted people to know they were in love. Mina didn't. It's not that she didn't love Anya, but she was scared of what people would think. A human and a vampire? Well, not a human anymore, Anya had seen to that. She was still surprised Emerence and Nickolas hadn't found out yet, that Wilhelmina had turned. Then again, she'd only been avoiding them for two weeks. She felt bad about it, especially to Emerence. Nickolas she would be glad to avoid, but Emerence was very kind to her. She liked the woman, and would never do her wrong. Ignoring and avoiding her made her feel guilty, but she had to do it. She was deathly afraid that Nickolas and Emerence would get mad, and force them to leave.
Sighing, Wilhelmina entered the kitchen, only to be greeted by a young man. He had his back turned to her. "Excuse me?" she spoke, stepping to him. He turned, a scowl on his face. "You must be the servant girl, Mina?" he spoke, his voice low and rough. She stepped back. "Yes, that's me. Can I help you?" She didn't know this man much, but knew he had came to the clan a few days ago. She didn't trust him then, and surely didn't now. He swirled the glass of red liquid with a smirk. "I think you can." Without warning he smashed the glass in his hand, holding onto the broken glass pieces. Mina jumped, her eyes wide. His other hand flashed out and grabbed her throat, pushing her against the wall. Before she could yell for help, he pressed a large piece of the glass against her cheek. "I only want a taste. That stupid bitch who owns you won't let me, and neither will the head lady here." He slid the glass down her cheek, cutting her skin. Mina whimpered, feeling her blood drip down her cheek. "No don't please," she begged, knowing he would not taste human blood. He only smiled, drifting his tongue across her skin. Almost instantly he choked, falling back. Mina rubbed her neck, red fingerprints around it. He spit out her blood, revolted. "You lying whore, you didn't tell me you were a vampire." Mina kept her back to the wall. He pushed up against her again, seething. "Lies are punishable," was all he said before slamming the back of his hand against her other cheek. She fell sideways, hitting her head hard against the kitchen table. He laughed as she fell to the floor, unmoving. Throwing the glass pieces beside her, he left her to lie there unconscious.
Blood from her cheek trickled down her neck, onto the floor. She lay on her back, one hand up by her face, the other by her side. The blood would not smell human, and would certainly not taste that way.

Leaving the room he shared with Emmy the male adjusted his shirt as he headed down the main steps. Sighing a bit he knew most of the others had gone for the night, normally he didn’t waste precision hours in doors but tonight he was being lazy. He thought maybe he would go out to hunt, maybe ask Emmy to join him but he wasn’t yet sure. First, he had no idea where the female was and second he was unsure if she had plans for the evening or not. Clearing his throat as he reached the bottle of the steps a sudden scent caught his attention. Turing full circle he frowned a bit, he smelled the blood of another vampire and this caused him to narrow his eyes.
The scent was followed by a scream and he moved forward following both the sound and the smell. Licking his lips as he entered the kitchen his eyes caught sight of another leaving the room but he hardly paid attention. The smell of blood was strong in the room and he moved towards the main counter seeing behind it an unrecognized female. Cocking his head to the side he seemed a little put off. No one had been attacked inside the manor, at least not to his knowledge. They were safe here or at least they were supposed to be. As far as he knew there had only been a few problems among any of them.
At once he seemed to recognize the girl who lay on the floor. She was the servant girl who belonged to Anyanka. Shaking his head a moment he didn’t rush to help her, his confusion seemed to have taken him over even for just a moment. “What the fuck?” He said out loud looking again at the door where the unknown made had left through. Had someone just changed her? He didn’t think so, no human blood mixed with that of her own.
She was not human any longer and he wondered how he had missed this. Questions flooded into his mind and he grew bothered by them. Shaking his head he bit his bottom lip. He didn’t know how badly she was hurt, not that mattered because she would heal quickly enough like the rest of them would.
Moving closer to her he knelt down touching the side of her face gently. It was true that he didn’t like her; in fact she fucking him like no other but at this point … Well, she was of his kind. He had to at least somewhat care didn’t he? Though he hated being here sometimes with so many young, he couldn’t help but care … A little.
Touching then her cheek he examined her carefully she was unconscious but he assumed the other had just shoved her against the wall if nothing else. “Mina.” He offered softly. “Mina can you hear me?”

Wilhelmina whimpered softly on the floor, vaguely hearing a male voice call to her. She understood her name, but that was all. Fearing it was the male from before, she turned her face away from him, unable to do much else. After a moment, the male voice became clear enough for her to recognize.
"N-Nickolas?" she choked, turning back to him. Her vision was a bit blurred, but she could make him out. "Is he g-gone?" she asked, immediately scooting a bit closer to him. Although she had never been fond of him, his presence comforted her slightly, and she knew he would protect her. After all, they were both vampires now right?
Biting her lip as she pushed herself up, her hands touched the pooling blood from the broken glass. She slipped backward into his arms. Moaning, she did not move again, in fear of slipping once more. Instead she curled up against him, crying quietly.
"Don't tell Anya please," she begged, curling up into a small ball in his lap. Sure, he may think this odd, but she had no idea where the man had gone, and she really hoped Nickolas would throw aside their differences at this moment.
Her head ached, but her cheek had soon healed. It wasn't a deep cut anyway. All that remained was a thin line, barely visible scar. "Please Nickolas you can't tell her." She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "Or Emerence. It was nothing. I fell, that's all. REally." Bloody hell how she hated lying. She knew he wouldn't believe her, but she wasn't going to tell him what had happened.

Emmy had been sitting in the living room with a book open in her lap. Reading was a pleasure that she liked to indulge quite often. And one that most of the world seemed to be missing out on. Currently she was reading The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman. The first in a trilogy called His Dark Materials. They were interesting. But it was just about time for a snack. And she didn’t feel like going out for a hunt. Which meant it was time to head into the kitchen and grab some of the blood they kept there for this very reason.
There was a reason, of course, for her staying home. Nickolas always went out at night. And she had found lately that it was just easier to be away from him. And she had no idea why. Because, if she were to tell the truth, she would definitely have to say that she didn’t want to be away from him. She loved him. But she felt like he was hiding something from her. And she was afraid to find out what.
The first hint that not everything was right hit her as soon as she stepped into the hallway. Blood. The smell was seeping throughout the house. Her foot stepped hesitantly forward, causing her blood red skirt to rustle. The smell was coming from the direction of the kitchen. The exact location she had been heading. But she didn’t know who was hurt. And she was suddenly more scared that it was Nickolas than to find out what he was hiding.
Her hand swiped nervously at the front of her black corset top and quickened her step. Finally she got to the door of the kitchen. She hesitated, though only for a second, before pushing open the door. The scent of the blood nearly overwhelmed her as she stepped inside. At first she saw nothing. But a few steps brought her to the scene.
If not the blood smell hanging heavily in the air, Emmy might have taken some offence to what she saw. But it was pretty obvious that Nickolas was just trying to comfort the girl currently in his arms. Her brow furrowed, though, when she noticed exactly who it was that he was holding. Mina. But that didn’t make sense. When had Mina become a vampire?
“What happened?” She said softly, some of the tension leaving her body when she realized that Nickolas hadn’t been the one who was hurt after all.

Wilhelmina tensed a bit as his hand gently touched her back. She was always nervy and timid, and his sudden touch had made her shudder. She wasn't afraid of him per se, just the attack had her racked. She scooted away from him a little, out of his lap and back onto the floor.
"I wasn't attacked," she muttered, all her anger emanting from those few words. She had never spoken in such a way before, to anyone. Such anger, such fire. She growled deeply within her throat, brushing blood from her cheek and licking it from her fingers.
She looked up as Emerence entered. Lovely. "Nothing happened. I fell and cut my cheek. That's all." She sighed heavily, shakily pushing herself up to stand. As soon as she had straightened up, she felt a bit dizzy, but managed to keep upright. She pushed back her hair away from her eyes. She knew very well Nickolas and Emerence could smell the vampiric blood on her, and knew that it was her own, but she certainly wasn't going to say anything about it. Blinking a few times, she rubbed her eyes. Her head ached something terrible. She blinked again as Emerence and Nickolas seemed to blur, and closed her eyes tightly. After a minute, she reopened them. There, that's better. "I'm fine," she insisted, moving to walk past them.

Emmy's eyes narrowed slightly when she saw the look of panic that crossed the other girl's face. Like she was walking in on something that she shouldn't be. And the way she spoke her answer, so quick and nervous, Emmy couldn't help but feel a little paranoid that something was going on that the girl obviously didn't want her to know. And she was thinking something way off the mark. She was sure of it. At least, she hoped she was sure of it. The last thing Emmy wanted to discover was that Nickolas was hiding something from her too.
She moved forward to help the other girl as she seemed to sway on her feet when she stood up. The most pressing issue on Emmy's mind, though, wasn't the fact that her blood had a definite vampiric smell to it. No, it was the fact that that very blood was currently running down the girl's cheek and she wasn't telling her why. At least, she didn't believe what Mina was saying. That she had simply fallen and cut her cheek. She had never known the other girl to be clumsy.
Her eyes swung back to Nickolas as he claimed that he had just walked in and found her laying on the ground. But that didn't sound right either. They were definitely lying to her. Either that or Emmy was seriously going crazy. She really needed to work on the whole paranoia thing.
But then Nickolas finally came out with the truth. Her eyes widened and swung back to Mina. "Someone attacked you?" She said quietly. "In this house?" Her eyes were blazing with anger now. This place was supposed to be a home for vampires who had no where else to go. She would not tolerate such violent actions under her roof. Just because they weren't exactly human didn't mean that that gave them the right to act like animals. "Well, I can assure you that that vampire will no longer be residing under this roof." She told the girl, anger making her voice shake slightly.
She held out a hand to her. "Now let me take your hand and see who he was." She wouldn't force the girl to give up her secret, but she hoped that Mina would allow her to punish him. And with her abilities she would be able to see his face.

Shooting Nickolas a dark glare, she huffed and stopped in her tracks. "No, Miss Emerence, I was not," she insisted, not wanting to cause any more trouble than she already had. She they would be angry with her for lying to them, and hiding this secret, but she had to. Moving away from Emerence as she helped her up, she clenched her jaw and kept still. Though she was indeed stationary, the room felt like it was spinning. The knock to her head and caused some dizziness, which would soon pass. But for now, she couldn't even see straight.
The sudden fire and anger in Emerence's eyes startled her. She stumbled back, her own eyes wide. "N-no...really I'm f-fine," she stuttered, quickly averting her eyes. She felt bad enough about what had happened, now Emerence was angry with her. Or so she thought. "I didn't mean to get him angry." She looked down at the floor, sighing quietly.
Blinking as Emerence's hand extended toward her, she looked up with even wider eyes. "No, Miss Emerence. I can't. He's gone...I know this." Indeed she did. She knew his scent, having it been so close to her. He was not in the manor. "I don't think he's coming back either." This, though, she did not know positvely. She certainly couldn't see the future. She just assumed that he would not be back. She looked quickly at Nickolas, then back to her. Lying was hard enough. She couldn't do this anymore. "I'm sorry," she apoligized, mainly for the fact she had kept this secret from them. She slowly raised her hand and placed it Emerence's palm.

Nickolas didn’t really understand why Mina didn’t want to just be honest about what had happened. He hardly believed that anyone would blame her for any of this, they hotheaded after all, not stupid. Licking his lips he looked to Emmy as she started to get fired up. He should have seen that coming, she was worse than he could ever be when it came to protecting those that lived her. Their own clan had surely thought them what not to do when taking care of another being, vampire or other. Raising an eyebrow as Emmy began to speak he thought to make a smart ass comment but thought better of it before opening his mouth.
Clearing his throat he just wanted the two. Frowning some he wanted to go after the male whoever he was. The male hadn’t a good fight in some time after all and the vampire certainly deserved to have someone put him in his place. He couldn’t see Mina doing anything to provoke such an attack, she could be annoying yes but not so much that she deserved to have her head basked in.
Taking a step towards the counter the male lifted himself up until he was sitting comfortably. Mina’s words caught his attention more and he looked curiously at her for a moment before saying anything. “Why would you feel the need to keep it from us anyway?” he asked honestly. The matter at hand regarding the attacker was important and he knew this however he still had his own questions to be answered. In time he was sure they could bleed the bastard dry, the city was hardly that big after all.
Anya didn’t seem like the kind who would much care what anyone else thought and mina did belong to her … he just wasn’t getting it and had to wonder if there was more to the story that he just wasn’t yet seeing. He and Emmy had a right to know what went on their own roof, they allowed people to remain here, the least they could do was offer at least some respect to them. This was his opinion at least.

Emerence stared at the girl as she started to deny what she had just been told. As if Emmy wouldn’t find out the truth sooner or later. But she would prefer sooner. And with the girl’s permission. She didn’t like having to steal premonitions off of people just to know what was going on. She much preferred being told the truth.
But she wasn’t going to blame Mina for trying to hide it. From what she could tell the girl hadn’t meant any harm in it. She just wanted to keep the peace. But sometimes keeping the peace was the worst thing to do. If there were vampires stepping over the bounds within her house, she wanted to know about it. They had rules here that she expected would be followed. And letting even one get away with breaking those rules could lead to more and more doing the same. She simply wouldn’t allow it.
Her eyes flashed with anger once more at the girl’s statement. She hadn’t meant to make him angry? Like it had been her fault. Honestly, though, Emmy had no idea what had happened. And she wouldn’t until she saw the entire scene, which the girl was till refusing to let her do.
But she kept her hand firmly held out, hoping that Mina would come to her senses and just let her do what she liked. And finally her resistance wore down. With a sigh her hand landed in Emmy’s, and Emmy’s eyes flickered closed.
As the scene played out before her, she could feel the anger within her rising. He had attacked Mina was absolutely no provocation. Simply wanted to taste her. And when he had tasted the blood of a vampire he had grown violent. As she had though, the blame was to be placed solely on his shoulders. Mina had nothing to worry about.
As she opened her eyes slowly, and released the girl’s hand, she looked at Nickolas. “It seems, my dear, that our rules are not being followed. He tried to drink her blood. And it angered him when he discovered she was no longer human, which is how you came to find her in the state she was in.” Then her eyes rested on Mina once more. “You had no reason to be afraid to tell us the truth. Please do not keep these matters from us. No matter how small you think it may be, even a tiny rebellion such as this could escalate into much more. Though you needn’t worry. I now know exactly who it was. He will not step another foot into this house. And that is a promise.”

Looking over her shoulder to Nickolas, she sighed softly. "I don't know...I thought you would be mad at me. I didn't want to hide it. Anyanka wanted me to tell everyone. I was just scared." Was? Hardly, she was still terrified of their wrath. But they had not done a thing yet to her, why would she worry about it? Because she always did, that's why. She was such a timid and gentle girl. She had grown off of it a bit with Anyanka beside her, but now that her secret was out, she had nothing to be afraid of anymore. Except for the fact she was indeed a creature of the night now. And she didn't have to deal with it alone. Anyanka would be there every step of the way, to guide her and to lead her, as her sire.
"I should have said something. I shouldn't have hid it from you. I just didn't know what you would think of me...and Anyanka," she whispered, her gaze resting lightly upon Emerence now. She trusted this woman a bit more than Nickolas, which was why she looked upon her for support. Then again, Nickolas had tried to save her. Not that she needed saving, but he had shown a small amount of compassion. Turning again to him with a faint smile, she spoke, "Thank you; for helping me."
Once Emerence's vision was complete, Mina took her hand back. She brought her hands together at the front of her blouse, gently fiddling with the ties there. "So, you aren't mad at us? I'm sorry for hiding it, really I am. I was just afraid of what you would of Anyanka and I. But...there's no use in hiding it any longer. You know now. There's not much I can say to remedy the situation. It happened so quickly. I don't even remember it exactly." She stopped, closing her eyes, trying to remember the little meeting. She couldn't. All she remembered was that Anyanka and her were together, that they had eternity to be that way. Nothing would change their love.

Emmy just stared at the girl as she gave her explanation as to why they hadn’t been told about Mina’s new status in life. She didn’t care. What went on between servant and master was their own affair, in Emmy’s opinion anyway. Though she was quite certain that Nickolas was rubbed the wrong way by their supposed deceit. Of course, Emmy didn’t look at it as a deceit at all. The truth would have come out anyway. Why not have a little privacy in the mean time. It hadn’t been the smartest path to take, however, for proclaiming to all within the house that Mina was no longer human would have saved them attacks such as this. Because, despite Emmy’s rules, not all within the house followed them. But after today, they would. Servants could not be treated as handy meals.
At her thanks, though, Emmy shook her head. “No. There is no need to thank us. We started this clan in the hopes of creating a home for those who didn’t have one. A family for the many lost vampires that roam the street causing havoc because they simply don’t know any different. When you joined this clan, you became part of that family. And family protects each other, no matter what. He, obviously, was using this house as only a place to rest his head. That I will not allow. To turn against ones own family is the ultimate betrayal. There is no need to thank us for what we would do for any within this clan.”
After the girl pulled her hand away, Emmy placed her now freed hand gently on the girl’s shoulder. She knew that Nickolas was upset because they had been lied to. But, honestly, Emmy simply couldn’t look at the situation in that light. And she couldn’t allow the girl to think that they had done anything wrong. They hadn’t. Emmy and Nickolas didn’t have the right to know every personal detail of everyone who lived there. Knowing who was and wasn’t vampires was nice, but not necessary. Either way, she was family.
“You needn’t worry any longer about this matter.” She told the girl firmly. “Just be happy. That is all we ask.”
Then she looked over at Nickolas, the anger she was feeling towards the other vampire quite evident in her expression. “Please Nickolas, would you take care of him as quickly as possible?” The look she gave him spoke clearly of just how much she wanted him to suffer for what he had done in her house. She knew the consequences could be dire, but the need to punish him was so much more. She was almost hoping that Nickolas would simply hunt him down and give him the thrashing he deserved right then.

“I’ll take care of it now.” He offered with a nod lifting himself up and hoping off the counter. He didn’t think he would be needed any further in the kitchen anyway. He knew his thoughts on the matter at hand and he knew their’s as well. Well, maybe not Mina’s, she hadn’t wanted any waves caused because of the attack but he had to assume that Emmy’s thoughts were along the same lines as his. More so her face said just as much. He wasn’t sure what he would do to the vampire ones he found him but he was sure it wouldn’t be pleasant.
He looked forward to this if the truth be told. Hunting a human was easy but hunting of your own kind was something else, something more exciting and more enjoyable. Licking his lips he looked towards Mina again, he was glad that’s he was alright. He had no hate against her but he wasn’t one to be overly gentle and understanding. Those were Emmy’s talents and abilities, not his. Nickolas tended to see things in more realistic terms in his opinion.
The female was right of course, this was a place of safety for those that dwelled inside. At the very least they owed one another respect. Turning he head towards the back exist of the kitchen, where the other vampire had fled through. He still had the male’s scent clearly in his mind, he was sure he had gotten a decent head start but honestly, there were only so many places in the city he would go.
