Nickname: Alex, Al, Sei, and Xes or.... "Sexi Alexsei" -Oh yeah, and Dimglow, but only by Roland-, as well as SeiSei now and Uncil Exsei by Machi.
Honorific: A'lexsei. He was created to be Alexsei, and any change in his name would be incredibly painful.

Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Alexsei could definitely be considered sexy. High arched cheekbones and playful eyes dominate his face, giving him a cheeky and lovable expression. Lips, slightly fuller than one might expect, are usually curled into an almost sardonic smile, and despite the twinkle in his eye, his lips seem to mock everything that they come across.
Standing at a relatively short -for Deryn's characters- five foot nine, Alexsei's build is more along the lines of muscular than skinny and lanky. A sculpted body, not to the point of it being creepy, gives Alexsei more than a hint of a swagger in his step, and the confident aura that precedes him might have something to do with his personal knowledge of how he can affect others. That sparkle in his eyes might also be a hint, but you don't want to be staring to long at his eyes. You might never come back from their depths. One eye is a light blue, sometimes looking gray in the correct light, and the other is a rich emerald green, sprinkled with diagonal stripes of a deeper blue. His mismatched eyes are a source of great pride for him,
Naturally light tan skin, which fades and darkens -as any tan skin should- with his time outside, covers all of Alexsei's body, not just his arms and torso. Alexsei's hair ranges from a light almost-blond color to a deeper Straw-berry blond, giving his short and naturally flippant hair a very shaggy look, although it is cut somewhat short. The texture of his hair is something to be admired, however, as it is very close to silk.
Personality: Alexsei is a strange person. Being one of those children who weren't hugged enough as a small child, Alexsei is rather strange in his approach to other people. It would be quite correct to say that Alexsei has social issues, although the way he deals with them is quite unusual. Upon meeting a person he finds attractive, or even mildly cute, Alexsei will glomp them and ask them if they will sleep with him.
Now, here is when things get tricky. Alexsei is a little more.... unusual than many normally see, and... Well.... He's just strange. It's very hard to describe him, because he's just... himself.
Alexsei sees himself as incredibly imperfect. He can't think of anyone worse in the world than himself, but instead of beating himself up over it, he simply tries to ignore it, and will do anything to keep his mind off of it. Thus the need for any sort of attractive contact, be it sexual or not, although he does prefer sexual, for many reasons.
This isn't to say that Alexsei can't be happy, and in fact, he is one of the most spastically happy people on Pern. It is serious compensation for his perceived faults, and at times, his happiness can seem incredibly forced. Ditzy in his own right, Alexsei isn't exactly easily confused, but he can becomes befuzzled. Yes. That's the word.
Easily angered, like when someone says yes to sleeping with him -for it normally means that they don't care about his personality, and therefore not about
him, but simply about his appearance- Alexsei can be set off at the slightest provocation, flipping out and making a mess of things. He refuses to take blame, and will leave or run away if the blame is stuck on him.
More than slightly childish in his approach to things, Alexsei fears the responsibility of life, and again takes refuge in his sexuality. Other than all of the negative things, Alexsei simply radiates adorableness and cuteness on huge levels, making him attractive to most people. He also has the cutest giggle and laugh, making his entire body light up and glow when he does.
Alexsei is also a naturally curious person, to the point where it is beyond rude and goes way past nosy. Gossip, whispers, information. Everything must be his.
History: Remember Alexsei's curious mismatched eyes? Well, Alexsei is actually the second child of Amasarya, making him the younger brother of Amasariel, or, as Amasariel impressed to Platinum Kenaniath, A'sariel. Yes, chickadees, Alexsei is Sari's younger brother. Fear it.
Born as the second bastard child of Amasarya, Alexsei's name is the first interesting thing about his past. Other than the whole... being born about four months after his mother sent his older brother away with the traders thing. Yeah. Well, Alexsei's name actually comes from the word "sexy". Or, more correctly "A sexy". His mother, never having been right in the head with all of the men and alcohol, simply found her darling blond baby -who did she sleep with again that was blond? She certainly wasn't.... and had blue eyes? Because the baby had such darling blue eyes.... but don't they all? Oh... um... wait.... one was green. Right....- cute enough to take the letters of "a sexy" and mix them up and add a few to get Alexsei.
Unlike his older brother, Alexsei didn't try and take care of his mother, being a very adventurous child, he mostly took care of himself, and became incredibly independent at a really young age. And his mother didn't let him eat paint. That was good. She was learning... sort of.
At seven, just like his older brother, Amasarya sent Alexsei with the traders, although this time she didn't tell him to go to the Weyr.
Her parting words were "Um, well. If you need anything, go to the Weyr, because I won't be here, and your brother is there, and Um.... Um.... He... Um.... What was I sa- Oh, right. He has the same eyes as you, oh they're cute, and Um.... he.... um.... Oh.... Um.... He.... He'll take care of you, and um... Well, I won't be here, so don't... um... come back, because you know how we're always moving? Yeah. Because of that. You understood all that, right, Alexsei? And um... right, about your brother... um... he's got your eyes. Did I mention that? Well... Bye."
And so ended the first chapter of Alexsei's life, and the second began with a girl annoying him and a broken leg, and many tears.
With this spectacular entrance, Roland smashed Alexsei's life into smithereens and rebuilt it her way. The pair became close friends, much to Quintrell's annoyance -Quintrell didn't like any male near Roland at all-, and were nearly inseparable for many years, at least, until Roland and Quintrell were searched... and then didn't come back.
The caravans continued on their routes day in and day out, but the tedious routine began to wear on Alexsei like it never had before, and then one day the caravan came to a particular hold, and a darling little child approached Alexsei and tugged on his shirt.
He was the spitting image of Roland -and Quintrell too, but who cares about him...-. Alexsei, startled, just stood there while a woman who quite obviously wasn't Roland came running up to him and apologized for having her son bother him, before beating the boy right before Alexsei, screaming at the young child that he was just a bastard. Alexsei, quite upset for obvious reasons, stepped in and took the child away. It was only afterward that he learned that Malachi was actually Quintrell's son. At the moment, Malachi is staying with his grandfather while he grows up and can go to the Weyr.
In the meantime, Alexsei decided that it was finally time to go to the Weyr, and set off.
And what a decision coming to the Weyr was. So many things happened in such a short time. Not a sevenday after coming to the Weyr Alexsei met someone... unique. Someone special. Someone who he could laugh and tease and taunt, and who could laugh and tease and taunt back. Someone who he enjoyed spending time with and didn't hate himself for smiling at.
This young wherhandler became the center of Alexsei's word, but old habits die hard, and even love might not be enough to overcome some mistakes...
Then the hatching night arrived and Alexsei, who had never thought he would impress anything at all, was given an egg. From that egg came Spinal Alexsesk, who turned Alexsei's world upside-down in a single bite.
