I found these videos a while back, and I have part 3 on the site because it's got some great video of Klaus in it.

Klaus is also in part 1.

According to what I've read online, this is from an unreleased documentary filming Harry during the recording of his album "Son of Schmilsson". Harry provides commentary, along with producer Richard Perry. It's very entertaining and maybe gives a little insight into Harry's personality. It's also just fun to see how this record was made.

Also included in this footage is Ray Cooper, Ringo Starr, Nicky Hopkins, and Peter Frampton

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3 - (lots of Klaus footage)
Part 4
Part 5

Those are great, especially the one for "You're Breaking My Heart"

And Peter Frampton is in them! Yay!

Hi,

Can anybody suggest a good Nilsson compilation album? (Or should I just look out for all the ones which Mr V plays on? laugh.gif )

Best,

Matty

Hi Matty,

There are a couple of compilation albums (I don't know which is best), but Harry's biggest selling album was Nilsson Schmilsson, and I think is considered one of his best. I have that one and Son of Schmilsson.

I just finished a Harry Nilsson page on my site. When you have a chance, please take a look:

I just finished re-watching one of the Harry/Klaus videos. They are really entertaining. I encourage everyone to have a look at them!

The second to last video (part 4) shows Harry with a group of elderly people who came to sing on the record. Harry says they decorated the studio for them and gave them sherry. They don't know what they are supposed to sing yet, but they are having fun! They look like they're having a great time!

Harry talks about how one of the men had a prosthetic leg (but they didn't know at the beginning) and when they were in the control room Klaus said it sounds like a wooden leg squeaking, and Harry asked the group and sure enough, someone had a wooden leg! How is that for a good ear?

Here is the link:

Harry Video - Part 4

Have fun!!

I agree with you... but I like some of his early works as well, especially "Pandemonium Shadow Show" and "Harry".

His last RCA record, "Knnillssonn", which came out in 1977, is also a fine classy-pop record cool.gif

Cristiano,

Great to 'SEE' you!! Thanks for the comment. I only have those 2 Harry albums mentioned, but didn't you also tell us about the cover of Knnillssonn being phtographed by Klaus?

I hope you're having a nice summer! Please stop by again.

Thank you Suzanne laugh.gif

The summer here's so HOT ( last week we've had 40 °C, which is an extraordinary thing here in the Northern part of Italy!!) ..and SURE , I always read this wonderful forum...maybe I'm a bit silent but I'm here!

Call me the Quiet One laugh.gif

About the Knnillssonn cover: yes, it was a photo taken by our Klaus !

Harry had recorded his last 3 albums in America and decided to fly to London once again to record what eventually would be his best album in years.

So, the cover is by Klaus and - I'm not 100 % sure because the liner notes on the CD are so lacking- probably the bass, so prominent on an album based exclusively upon the acoustic guitars-bass-orchestra sound, is also played by mr. Voormann...

Cristiano,

We've actually had some pretty good weather for summer. It's usually so hot and humid and so far it hasn't been bad so I'm very thankful for that!

Well, you can be the quiet one then Cristiano! laugh.gif We're still very happy you're here!

And thanks for the info about the Knnillssonn album! I'm going to see what I can find out about it too.
