I have read in the paper today about a two year old boy who has stunned doctors by naming countries on maps and using an iPad. Also he was able to read instruction and put together a telescope his mother wasn't able to. Apparently it was a telescope he had asked for.
Doctors don't know how clever the boy is until they can test his IQ at the age of 3, but for now they believe he is gifted. What makes a child so quick to learn, I wonder? As this isn't the normal behaviour of a 2 year old - one who does things like wake his mother up in the early hours of the morning to tell her Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity when an apple fell on his head. This boy's learning isn't what other children his age ore capable of. And this brings up a point I have made before concerning people who claim to be mediums. We are all different and some knowing in matters others are oblivious to. And it's done as second nature to those who are gifted in whatever way it is. In this respect I don't see why it can't be possible that some people have the natural ability to tune into the spirit world. |

There's alway going to be a wide spread of natural abilities just through chance. Most children will fall into the middle ground, but it stands to reason you'll see examples of higher (and lower) intelligence too.

I'm not altogether sure how much it's to do with intelligence, as such. I teach a little lad who has all sorts of problems - ADHD being the least of them. He isn't the brightest boy and even finds writing his name hard, but he has a talent. He's a Sikh and goes to the Temple with his parents. One of his uncles gave him a drum to play with one day and that was it. He plays the drum (forgotten the name of it) using two hands and he does magic with it. Holding the skin down with different numbers of fingers and pressure. It's hard to explain what he does, but the drums 'speak' when he really gets going. It's quite awesome to watch.

I think TD, that it appears more than simply higher or lower intelligence. When children especially excel in something we refer to them as gifted in that particular subject. For some their subject goes beyond talented.
What, for instance, makes the little boy who finds usual subjects difficult be able to make a drum speak in the way Les describes? Music in this respect is a difficult thing to master and maybe most of us would struggle to compete with him. Yet this child has no problem with it. To me it shows how individual each of us are. So I think, why shouldn't some people excel at subjects which are alien to the majority? And why shoudn't some be that they're able to communicate with intellegences we can't normally see or sense? Or be able to predict the future, or even travel out of their body remote view? Really even looking at different nationalities shows how different we each can be. Look at the different skin colours and face types around the world. At how different countries excel in subjects than others. Look at the millions of different creatures in the sea and the talents they have which differ greatly for their own survival. All these sea/water creatures live in the same surroundings but have hugely different talents. So why should we humans be any different? Why shouldn't it be possible that some of us can see and hear what others don't? |

That's just belittling the subject, unfortunately

Thats the way I see the subject. But seriously, why don't you think flight or invisibility is possible for humans? You think other things are possible, so why not these? |

Most probably because I haven't ever known nor heard of anyone saying they can fly or become invisible. Whereas I have known and heard of people who say they have communicated or seen people supposedly dead. And I know many people who have foretold the future accurately and spoken of peoples pasts when they have never met them or know anything about them.
I have also known people who have thought they've been able to remote view. And I have seen the supposedly dead myself. That helps |

It would probably be appropriate, at this point, to mention people who can see using their ears, people who have single handedly lifted cars or pushed aside huge boulders (despite having crushed hands) and instances when people have slowed down time - example of a policeman who, during a shootout was able to physically read the labeling on bullet cases as they flew past him. Even the 'normal' human body is capable of incredible things.
