The unions representing nurses and midwives have joined others in stating their "outright opposition" to the government's NHS plans in England. The Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives had expressed concerns in the past, but said they were willing to work with ministers. However, now they want the entire bill covering the changes to be dropped. Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said the unions wanted to "have a go" at government about "pay and pensions". The colleges' stance comes after a similar move by the British Medical Association last year. It also mirrors the stance adopted by Unison, which represents a host of administration and support staff, such as porters. But what impact this intervention has remains to be seen. The Health and Social Care Bill is still working its way through Parliament, and the bill is in the Lords at the moment.
Its a fact that conservatives love to privatise everything they can and we all know what happens then. Along with the social care bill its all very worrying. |

I think we are heading back to Victorian times, when the workforce were expendable and had no rights and the rich got richer.
Lets face it if the health sevice is to be privatised then the private companies must expect profit, otherwise what do they get out of it? Health service for profit, it does not bear thinking about. |

You have that so right ganda.
It would be a total disaster for most people (rich being exempt.) when the nhs is made private. Note I said when not if as I am 100% certain this government are heading that way. I will be dead in a year if they do that as one thing is for sure. The ongoing treatement I need would never be covered fully by any insurance.OH hang on.I could never afford insurance in the first place. |
