Has anyone been invited by the Lord Chamberlain to the Queens
offical garden party. I recieved the envelope with the white card stating `Lord chamberlain is commanded by her Majesty to invite
------ ----- to a garden party at Buckingham Palace on TUESDAY
30th of July 2002, from 4pm-6pm `.
I went with a friend who was disabled, and we travelled to Victoria
rail station, then on to the palace on foot, as my friend did`nt want to use a taxi. To save him more distress, We went in the back
enterance, showed our green passes to a girl guide at the gate.
We went up the gravel path to the `lawn`, where we mingled with
the other quests, until we saw them going to the set tables where
I was informed that the refreshments were to be served.
I went ahead to get my friend a table, but I was not quick enough,
all taken, so I obtained two chairs, I sat him down by the lake.
I walked to the enclosed place, where Beafeaters lined the route, the Queen would take. in a roped off area. The Queen arrived and
walked slowly along the roped area, talking to people inside that area.
Two Canadian ladies were trying to see the Queen behind me, so I invited them to take my place. they thanked me. I went back to my
friend, to see what he wanted from the refreshment area, so I bought
back some sandwiches, cakes, and tea on a tray, then went back for my own. Al this time two bands were playing, one at a time, then I
went back for the ice cream, a double lot for both of us. The Queen
had gone into her marque, with other especially invited quests.
All to soon, it was 6pm, and time to depart. I asked my friend, if we
could go out through main entrance, he agreed, so we came through the palace, looking at the staircase, and red and gold long sofa`s,
plus the pottery ware in a glass cases. We came out through the middle arch, into a crowds, that lined the railings. the street.
A good afternoon out !

Wouldn't it be fun to reply to the invitation that you had other engagements?
