You lucky thing, fresh veggies. My garden isn't big enough for a veggie patch. Between the flower beds for me and the lawn for the dogs, it's all taken up. sad.gif

Looks more like a park than a garden, Glo. Beautiful surroundings - must be a lot of hard work keeping it so nice too.

That's a really nice set up.

My MIL leaves in a council house and has a huge garden. She's given us half of it for us to have a little allotment. We have built raised borders in it to keep bugs at bay.
We have :
Onions
courgettes
cauliflower
tomatoes
potatoes
raddish
turnips
rocket salad
roman lettuce
some posh purple broccoli
Aubergines
peppers
raspberry bush
a plum tree
strawberries
french beans
dwarf beans
Every herbs we could think of and more vege I'm forgetting about.
It's doing very very well too!

We have shed loads stuff growing there, but yours looks much MUCH better!

Well done Mr Glo... handsup.gif

Well done Fwenchie - that's an impressive variety.

We are on a half acre and when we first came down here five years ago it was a wilderness and all we had was an old petrol mower.

Now we have ride on one and he also keeps all the grass cuttings and collects the neighbours grass cuttings too - then he fills the rows and around each veggie plant with the cuttings and it stops the weeds growing. Then at the end of the season he plows the whole lot back into the ground until the following year when he will rotate the veggies around.

Half an acre!!!!

I forgot spinash and swiss chard.

I do blanch and freeze some of it. I'm hoping to have a nice selection that I will save for Christmas dinner. We didn't have enough last year but our plot is twice the size this year.
In my own garden at home I grow a few herbs and speedy salad and rocket too. I have that almost everyday. There's nota day that goes by in the summer when we don't have something from the garden on our plates. laugh.gif

I'm quite ashamed to show you mine now, but I'll fetch some pics. I suppose it doesn't matter what it looks like really as long as it's prolific.

Still, I wish mine looked like that!

Someday it will Fwenchie - don't let Mr Glo's patch put you off showing yours, I think you're doing a great job now.

We freeze stewed apples, yes we have apple trees too.

We also freeze the left over tomatoes ( that's what's in the greenhouse ) - what we do is put them through the liquifier and then put them into measured quantity bags and hey presto we have our own tomato sauce for pasta based meals etc....

I want to congratulate all you flower, veggie and herb growers - it must be hard work. Wish I had the patience to do it.

It's not hard work if you enjoy it. Besides, the weather weve been having has been doing all the work.
The plants are loving this alternate weather. We've hardly even had to water anything.

So it should be a prosperous year for the veggies Fwench. Well the most I'm going to do is get the mower out in a few mins - sun's shining brightly here so I guess it's the best time to do it, before another downpour like yesterday.

One thing about growing your own veggies is that they taste a hell of a lot better than shop bought ones handsup.gif It is also nice that if you feel like having mixed veggies you only need to go out in the garden and pick just enough of each variety instead of having to buy packs seperately and then wasting some. ingardenwatering001.gif
