If the data is right (big IF) it means that either the time scale for Galaxies forming is wrong and it occurred quicker than we thought (likely) or the Universe is older than 14 billion years (less likely). Either way it shakes up astronomy a bit. Not quite a E Hubble sized discovery but quality none the less.
