Joe Frazier was world Heavyweight champion in 1970. He lost it eventually to George Foreman years later. While he was World Champion he defeated Muhammed Ali; the first time two undefeated world champions had met. Ali went on to beat Frazier twice, while Foreman had another title fight with Foreman and he lost again. Frazier only lost to two men in his boxing career; Foreman and Ali (both twice).

He was one of the great boxers of the 20th Century.

Apparently, he was a really nice man too. (Unless you were Ali, of course).

Ive just been reading in the paper about this and Ali says Joe is the greatest fighter of all time - next to him laugh.gif Apparently the men held a lot of respect for each other - as did George Foreman.

You don't hear of the likes of these men anymore. They were brought up in an era when although they should have been foes, they respected what each other could do. Brings a tear to my eyes.

I remember watching Ali fight when I was in the maternity home after the birth of my son. Can't remember who he fought thought.

RIP

Joe

I don't know about the greatest ever, but he was a great boxer. But I would put others before him; Ali, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Foreman, James J Jefferies, Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Jack Johnson and the list goes on. #

His greatest battles were with Ali.
