My doctor asked me if I want to take part in a fitness programme for twelve weeks.
It involves nutriton advice as well as an exercise regime.

I said yes but they are going to have thier work cut out with me.

I have my first appointment on Monday and the woman I spoke to said I will have a health check then be asked to go on the stepper..... pjr-laugh.png
I told her I might have a problem there if my back is playing up.

She then said to wear trainers or flat shoes.... pjr-laugh.png
I told her I might have a problem with that as well as my feet swell and I cant get my shoes on.

She then said she will ask me about my diet and advise on what is best to eat. pjr-laugh.png
Wait until she finds out I dont eat any of the food that is supposed to be good for you. laugh.gif

Poor people....still,at the very least I will get some good advice.

Morning,

You should follow the advice for your own sake. I know it is hard, but your health must come first.

Whatever you decide I wish you good luck. BlowKiss2.gif

Oh I fully intend to follow all the advice I can.

If I dont eat a certain food I wont and as for exercise...well I cant do too much but will do what I can.
I cant jump around for a start.

She did say they will tailor the exercise for each individual and they will be monitoring my heart ect.

I am looking forward to it.At the very least I will get some good tips.

4d544553.gif After a few years you get used to it. Not the ideal way to live but at least I am not in a wheelchair.

Hopefully this fitness programme will help me lose the weight the steroids I was on put on me.That will help my back.

Do you still suffer from sciatica?

I have 'bouts' of it. Havent had any for a few months, i am sure its coincidence, but i seem to get them in the winter. WHen you get out of bed and cant even put socks on !! Does your head in. I rememember being in so much pain after walking my daughter to playschool that i just burst into tears, everyone thought i was mad (ok ok ok Junius laugh.gif i know what you are thinking).

I agree, we could be worse off and in a wheelchair.

I hope the fitness programme helps, it should do ! x

I remember a few years ago my back went and I couldn’t move... I phoned the hospital and they just said take a couple of pills. Luckily for me my daughter was at home at the time. What worries me if that happened when you are at home alone. More so now that I’ve got a dog.

I wasn’t thinking anything Rose, I KNOW!!!!!!

Its worrying isnt it. Doc gave me painkillers, 2 diff sorts. The problem is they make me feel dizzy and tired so i only take them if i have to !! Otherwise i take Nurofen plus and spend loads of time laying on the floor trying to take the pain away (until the dog jumps on me laugh.gif )

Doctors always fob us off with pills. I take co-codamol and have done for years. It does actually take the edge off.

They just don't want to come out and see you.

For me there is no need for them to come out to me. I have had all the treatment I can have and manage my back problems myself.
When my disc slips I get it back in within a couple of days as opposed to lying on a bed for weeks.

If your back keeps playing up then go to the doctors and ask to be referred so they can tell exactly what is wrong.
If its a muscle then there is nothing they can do.
