Ive just been told by the daughter, "Dad thats a Union flag, not a England flag". Hmmm, they are flying it across the road, so I though I would snap it and post it. Hmm, still come on England....
zombie444 - June 20, 2012 05:05 AM (GMT)
I doubt the jocks, taffs and paddies would see it that way Chortle well done england, well done hodgson :D keep it up athumbsup
Tomdog - June 20, 2012 05:22 AM (GMT)
Tell them they're flying the flag upside down. The thin white stripe nearest the flagpole should be at the bottom, with the thicker stripe on top.

Anyone watch the match last night? A fast paced one I thought. And very good to watch. Well done England!
Come on ENGERRRRLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAANND!
Les - June 20, 2012 05:24 PM (GMT)
Yep. Upside down flag. Never mind - it's the spirit of the thing that counts. :D
At the moment I'm thinking ...

After his performance for England last night, Wayne Rooney has been called in to take a test for Performing Enhancing Rugs...
Les - June 20, 2012 05:51 PM (GMT)
In my view, Rooney had no place in the starting line up and his performance last night just proved me right. He managed to get himself on the end of a sweet little England build up to score that goal. It was by no means down to him. On the other hand he missed a good chance earlier which might have put the Ukraine's near miss (or was it) out of consideration.
As to the hair ... that alone should have kept him off the pitch. The man obviously has no pride. :D

I watched the match last night. Good result. Let us hope we can beat Italy on Sunday.
sherry - June 20, 2012 07:58 PM (GMT)
There's a lot of discussion about the Ulkrane none goal. It looked different to me each time they did a replay. Should it have been allowed, do you think? Glad it wasn't
Les - June 20, 2012 08:06 PM (GMT)
No. Not under the current system. Official's decisions are part of the game. Besides, it looked like an off side to me - if you catch a replay, look at Milevskiy. :D
However, I would like Hawk Eye or something similar to be used at games like that.
sherry - June 20, 2012 08:09 PM (GMT)
Ah, you jogged my memory about it being off side.
I've not heard of Hawk Eye - but it reminds me of the BBC soap Mash
frehley - June 20, 2012 08:10 PM (GMT)
What was that official ( 5th, 6th whatever ) doing on the line .... what is the point ?
Les - June 20, 2012 08:12 PM (GMT)
There's a little known fact about me ... I'm a qualified ref. No, really - honest. I ran our school football team for years. I'd have disallowed it - based on the off side. :D
sherry - June 20, 2012 08:17 PM (GMT)
Brilliant. I'm very impressed, Les. I should know myself as I've seen enough football matches over the years, but afraid I don't. Very good - we have our own KF ref - in more ways than one
frehley - June 20, 2012 08:18 PM (GMT)
Nice one Les ...
although I've had my fair share of arguments with refs when I played ( at a very low level )
Les - June 20, 2012 08:22 PM (GMT)
I was never afraid to use that red card if I needed to. :D
sherry - June 20, 2012 08:23 PM (GMT)
Laughing man
The power!!!
frehley - June 20, 2012 08:23 PM (GMT)
I only ever got one of those .... it was a £12 fine in my day!
( £6 for a yellow ! )
I often left the pitch £6 poorer
sherry - June 21, 2012 11:17 AM (GMT)
I didn't know you was actually fined, Frehley
Les - June 24, 2012 08:27 AM (GMT)
Looking forward to tonight - I think. :D
What's the betting on either Balotelli or Rooney (or both) getting themselves sent off tonight?
Match predictions anyone?
I'm saying 2 - 0 to England. And I'm praying that there won't be a penalty shoot out. I couldn't stand it. C-ouch

zombie444 - June 24, 2012 10:14 PM (GMT)
They were rubbish :angry:repeatedly gave the ball away doh Played like a bunch of women :P
Les - June 25, 2012 09:19 AM (GMT)
They weren't rubbish, and I'm hopeful that Roy Hodgeson can turn things around for the England team - given more time. Having said that, England didn't play as well as the Italians did last night. The result was the right one - I'm just so gutted that they're out.
On a positive note we can now watch the rest of the tournament as neutrals and enjoy it for its own sake. I'll be supporting Spain. Why? There's too much footballing history between us and Germany for me to support them - the Italians knocked us out of the tournament and as far as Portugal is concerned, one word fits here ... Ronaldo.
Lisa - June 25, 2012 12:10 PM (GMT)
England definitely did not play their usual game........... Rooney was next to useless. As a team they did not seem to connect together. Italy was certainly the better team but England did their best I suppose.
I hope they can come back in the future as the talent is out there and whoever is manager at that time must get down to trying to bring out the best.
:) :)
Les - June 25, 2012 01:19 PM (GMT)
Fingers crossed that Roy Hodgson carries on as he's started. :)
