Somebody dressed a police officer opened fire at the youth camp of the political party "de Arbeiderpartiet". No further info as yet.

One man arrested over the shooting of four people at Labour party youth meeting on Utoya Island, Norway.

And seven killed (so far) in an obviously related bombing in Oslo. :(

I don't know who is responsible for these attacks today, but I disagree with the claim that it isn't Islam. It is the ideology of Islam motivating these killers. There have been just too many attacks all over the world to claim it's just the work of a few nutters.

I accept that the perpetrator in this case might be an Islamic terrorist but atm there are as many reasons to believe that right wing extremeism is behind this. They've arrested the man so we'll know soon enough. Does anyone know whether anyone has claimed responsibility yet? I don't believe they have.
The issue of Islam as a vehicle for terrorism is a different issue altogether as things stand in this latest atrocity.

What we do know is that the death toll is now 87, most of those on the Island. :(

It is the mission of Islam to Islamify the world and establish Islamic theocracies. People on forums who say this are often ridiculed, and Geert Wilders was prosecuted for saying this. Expert Arabist scholars gave evidence in court that this was indeed the case and it was no secret. He was found not guilty on all charges.

It is not the mission of the enlightened Christian religion to do either, nor is it the mission of most religions that have been influenced by the Enlightenment. That's the trouble with Islam: it serenely ignored the Enlightment and persists in doing so.

I disagree. Many Catholics had this purpose in earlier parts of history; to convert and change people into Christians. The only moderate Muslims are those who pay only lip-service to it and would become open apostates if they dared to, but this is hardly possible, even in my own country, where a young ex-muslim who tried to set up an organisation to help apostates had to go underground and get a new identity due to threats and attacks.

"Moderate" muslims in my country respond to atrocities with "well, you shouldn't kill people BUT...." and then go on to show sympathy and understanding for terrorists. The less moderate, which is a considerable number, danced on the streets in response to both the twin towers atrocity and the murder of Theo van Gogh.

You missed the bit about the influence of the Enlightenment in your reply. Christianity has largely been influenced/tamed by it; Islam has largely been uninfluenced by it. That's a fact.
