Title: FIFA. Who will win?
Description: Sepp Blatter, or Sepp Blatter?
Les - May 30, 2011 08:15 AM (GMT)
I'm totally speechless. An election with only one candidate? It's ridiculous.
voice - May 30, 2011 08:32 AM (GMT)
I agree, he didn't do anything the last 13 years and I can't see any changes this time around with him in charge.
Rusty Bullet - May 30, 2011 08:45 AM (GMT)
International football is an ugly bent joke. As is the Olympics.
Les - May 30, 2011 08:54 AM (GMT)
It's all about money and power. You're right - an ugly joke. The question is, can anything be done about it? Maybe this is one of those situations where I think the press can do something useful instead of creeping round Celeb's houses.

It can be done, but do they have the will to do it?
Les - May 30, 2011 12:20 PM (GMT)
Well, let's see what this evening's press conference is all about.
frehley - May 30, 2011 12:33 PM (GMT)
He is going to announce that the 2026 World Cup will be held ......
On the Moon.
( Well it is new territory )
PS
the Bid from Mars was seen as too arrogant.
Les - May 30, 2011 12:46 PM (GMT)
Where did the Lunar bribes come from?
frehley - May 30, 2011 12:50 PM (GMT)
He's a piece of work is'nt he.
Teflon Sepp.
I would love to see a breakaway group. Then perhaps the house of cards would go.
It would not take much - he has upset a lot in his time.
However as for our own FA - do'nt get me started.
Les - May 30, 2011 01:09 PM (GMT)
Can you explain how this voting thing is supposed to happen on Wednesday? Who's voting and what happens if they abstain and can they abstain?
frehley - May 30, 2011 01:29 PM (GMT)
All I can tell you is that our FA has abstained so logically all of the voting groups/FAs can abstain.
Would'nt that be funny.
( We should have put up a candidate ourselves - someone above reproach - Bobby Charlton for
example )
This might help.

Looking at the link, it seems Blatter was running away with it anyway.
frehley - May 30, 2011 04:48 PM (GMT)
Watching Sepp Blatter News Conference.
Beyond parody.
Les - May 30, 2011 05:27 PM (GMT)
Crisis? What crisis? O...M...G!
Is it me, or was that the weirdest press conference ever? He's certainly seems to have annoyed the press - not a good idea.
frehley - May 30, 2011 05:30 PM (GMT)
I'm speechless Les, the man is unbelievable.
"Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad."
nono
Les - May 30, 2011 05:34 PM (GMT)
Half way there then.
I can't think how this is going to pan out now. Interesting times ahead. I can't see the press letting it drop.
frehley - May 30, 2011 05:40 PM (GMT)
It's clear that journalists from many countries are out to get him.
It could be just a matter of time.
Here's hoping so.
I do not think that "Press Conference" did him any favours.
What a clown.
Les - May 31, 2011 06:51 AM (GMT)
I reckon he's been taking lessons from Colonel Gaddafi. I'm just a bit worried in case he's secretly recruiting an army.
frehley - May 31, 2011 08:13 AM (GMT)
 Les
I had a terrible dream last night in which a 75 year old corrupt gangster was running the world game.
Now then, whats in the news?

I've been watching all this saga on Newsnight; I think all the member associations are corrupt and that is why Sepp Blatter will go unchallenged. The only reason the other two named him because they were outed.

Another one from Twitter:-
A spokesman for Sepp Blatter refuses to accept that FIFA is going to Hell in a handcart, adding ‘it could go anywhere if the money’s right’.

You've got to laugh because the ordinary man certainly won't win them
It's horrible that the world of sport can't be relied upon.
I remember when we had dealings with a girls and ladies football team. Those in charge, the football association really believe they are something, and yes - dodgy dealings even there from what I saw and heard. People up others backsides - refs who have their favourite teams  We all know what that means
Some horrible people involved. Such a shame as sport should be fun. Well, admittedly there was a heck of a lot of fun and enjoyment during that time, but seeing how the low end of football works then it doesn't surprise me what it's like at the top. Shame on them responsible.
