The caravan has full air blown central heating, it's guaranteed 20 deg inside at 0 deg out. It has an end bathroom (a seperate room were toilet, shower cubicle and wardrobe are located). Electric hookup which runs fridge, electric pumps for shower and taps, extractor fan, water heater, heating and all 240 volt plugs. It has a gas BBQ point so gas BBQ can be hooked up to the onboard gas supply. It also has an inbuilt tv ariel so theres no messing about setting one up. There are also fly screens on every door and window to keep pests at bay.

It's a great way of enjoying the great out doors, we go right through the year. The season does not end.

As a member of the caravan club we tend to use CL sites, that stands for Certificated location. That means a farm site that is liecensed for 5 vans. Most have electric hookup, some offer toilets and showers. The plus point is they cost on average £10/£12 a night. So you can have a weekend away for £20, great value!

Has anyone else dabbled with a caravan, if so what did you think of it?

I would love to know more about caravanning as we intend to get one in the near future. Our aim is to use it as you do,any time, any where.
Any info you can provide us with would be great....we would be taking our large dog with us,so we would need sites that will allow a dog...(always on lead).

We will be getting a four wheeler....and we live on the South coast,we want to travel North and then Scotland,Devon Cornwall...we do intend to join the Caravan club also....Members of our family have a caravan they live up North......
We are looking forward to the time we can buy our first caravan... Handsup

Hi caro :) There are caravans to suit all requirements. From small to very large, all with different layouts. From fixed bed (no making up required) to a double with 3 fixed bunks, or the more traditional double that needs making up with bunks that swing out from the wall. End bathrooms with wardrobe and seperate shower cubicle to a wet room, toilet with shower intergrated into the room. My advice would be to visit a local dealer to see what takes your fancy. The main thing to watch for is damp. If buying from a dealer that should not be a problem. If buying privately then invest in a damp meter and check the van inside thouroughly or get a caravan engineer to check it out for you.

Driving licence requirements:

CATEGORY B LICENCE OBTAINED PRIOR TO 1 JANUARY 1997 MAY DRIVE: a. Towed Outfits any outfit where the combined MAM (Maximum Authorised Mass) does not exceed 8,250kg. (over which weight would have required an additional test pre-1997) However Club recommendations on weight ratio between trailer and towing vehicle remain at 85%.

CATEGORY B LICENCE FIRST OBTAINED ON OR AFTER 1 JANUARY 1997 MAY DRIVE: a. Towed Outfits driver restricted to a combined MAM of 3,500kg and the trailer MAM must not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle (85% ratio remains strongly recommended). If this MAM is to be exceeded an E Test pass is required.
