This MY FIRST FANFIC, so please be nice.

Part One
“You just don’t get it, do you?!” Diana screamed to her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend Cole. She couldn’t believe how ignorant he was to her life, her feelings, and everything around him. She couldn’t understand why he cheated on her; she thought she was doing everything right. She was just so frustrated with everything. With her life altogether. She was all of a sudden failing her best subjects – was it because she wouldn’t let herself know that Cole had been cheating? Did she know before she would let herself accept it?

“So how many times did you cheat on me?” Diana asked, tying her hair back to keep it out of her eyes. “Multiple people? How far did you go?” She had only seen him kissing some cheerleader chick, but he was one of the more popular people.

“It wasn’t anybody else … it was just that one time.” Cole tried to hide his face with his sweaty hands. He was constantly looking at the floor and the ceiling, and never made eye contact with Diana.

“Why the hell did you do it?” Diana shouted in his small apartment’s walls. She had an angered, frustrated look on her face. Who wouldn’t? It was red, not just because she was mad, because it was like a million degrees in the living space.

“I was tired. Tired of waiting.” Cole, still not making eye contact, stuttered through the few words he could get out.

“Tired? You’re tired? I’m the one, everyday, that waits for you outside. That picks up all your jock friends. The one that helps you with your incredibly easy algebra homework. And I do all this shit because I cared about you, when I could just as easily be going shopping and to the movies with my friends.” Diana tried to get him to focus on her eyes, but it didn’t do very well. She tried going up close to his face and snapping her fingers diva-style. “I just don’t get it. I just don’t. I mean, I do all this, and what do I get?”

Cole tried to zoom her out, but it didn’t happen. She moved around the room in a way that was so irresistible to him, while screaming at him. He didn’t even know the real reason why he had done it. He felt so stupid. Incredibly stupid. She came walking closer to him again. He was sitting on the arm of his ripped, falling apart leather sofa.

“Hello? Are you even listening to me?” Diana snapped at him again.

Cole lifted up his blond head and looked at her for once. She gave him a “look-who’s-awake” look, with her arms folded over her chest. He reached his hand up to her face, and stroked the few strands of hair peeking out her ponytail that were attached to the side of her face. He loved doing this. He’d stroked this same spot many times before when they’d found their own private nation on a beach by a nearby town in Florida where they lived- they’d be kissing each other’s lips gently while the people up the beach’s radio played John Mayer softly.

“What the hell are you doing?” Diana asked angrily, with a very weird expression printed on her face.

Cole changed his mind and slapped her. And slapped her hard. Diana fell to the floor in pain. He stood up and looked at her.

Diana got up, and thought to herself quickly don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry. It wasn’t possible though. The one person she let her guard down for had failed her. Had failed her in everything possible. Tears streaming down her face, she ran into his bedroom to get the few CDs she didn’t want to leave behind. She then sprinted where she had first dropped her coat and said “we need to talk”.

“Where are you going?” Cole asked, like she had nowhere else to go.

“Anywhere but here.” Diana replied through the streams of salty water. It wasn’t as much as crying as tearing up. She turned and walked towards the apartment’s exit, careful not to step on the piles of shoes and old newspapers.

Cole ran toward her, and grabbed her shoulder with his shaky hand.

“No. I’m leaving, and you can’t stop me.” Diana said without turning around. She left the apartment with those words, leaving the door open, leaving Cole with a blank face.

“Not if I can help it…” Cole said under his breath as he heard Diana’s footsteps down the building’s steps.
