Attacks/Weapons

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bakuryuu: According to Toutousai this is when Inuyasha uses the Tetsusaiga to coil up the youki of the enemy with the Kaze no Kizu technique and make the youki counterflow. Then the tangled Kaze no Kizu and oppenent's youki become a whirlpool which bounce back at the enemy.

Dokkasuo: Literally "Toxic Flower Claw" This is Sesshoumaru's claw swipe, which comes with an unhealthy dose of liquid and sometimes gaseous poison.

Hijin Ketsusou: Literally "Airborne Blade Blood Claw". Same attack as the Sankon Tetsusou, only with bloody claws. The blood becomes sharp and is hurled at the opponent.

Hiraikotsu: Sango's Boomerang. Most likely made from youkai bones, as the other weapons the Taijiya villagers used. It looks heavy, but she doesn't have a problem throwing it hard enough to take off a demon's head. Sango also carries a katana.

Houriki: Literally "clerical powers". This is what Miroku yells when he slaps something with ofuda. He says it the first time we see him unleasesh the void in his hand.

Jakotsutou: The zombie, Jakotsu's sword which folds out into many blades. From volume 24 of the manga.

Kazaana: Literally "Air Rip" Naraku cursed Miroku's grandfather to have a void in his hand that would suck anything and everything into it until it eventually swallowed him whole. Miroku has inherited this curse, but it's a handy weapon. Sometimes he'll actually yell Houriki (clerical powers) which shows that he has turned this unfortunate affliction into a an aid in his cause: to defeat Naraku.

Kaze no Kizu: The "Wound of the Wind". This is the first of Tetsusaiga's techniques Inuyasha learns.
He first discovered it when blinded by Sesshoumaru's poison. He trained his senses to feel out for his brother's dark chi or "Youki", and detected the "wound of the wind" [or "the cutting wing" depending on who translated it]. He can sort of smell the clash between the chi and the air. Inuyasha claims that Sesshoumaru was able to do this attack easily because as a full youkai, his sense of smell was better.

Kusarikama: Kouhaku's 'Chain and Blade' weapon with which he kills his father.

Nintoujou: Literally "Human Head Pole". This is Jaken's staff which he uses to locate Sesshoumaru's father's grave in book 2. When placed over the believed spot, the female will scream when it hasn't found what it's looking for, and the male head laughs if they have found it. The staff is the key to open the father's tomb. The male head also conveniently doubles as a powerful flame thrower.

Ofuda: These are the little pieces of paper Miroku, Kaede and Grandfather Higurashi use to ward off evil. Though Grandfather's are mostly ineffective, Miroku has been known to use them in combination with his Shakujou in combat. They were used to seal Inuyasha in to a room when he was healing and blind an oncoming youkai to his whereabouts. This one in particular means "Evil Be Gone"

Sankon Tetsusou: Literally "Soul Shattering Iron Claw". What Inuyasha yells when he's doing a basic claw-slash. Inuyasha slurs this word, as he does Te'saiga and pronounces it "Sankon Tet'sou"

Shakujou: Miroku's monk's staff. He uses this to defend himself as well as attack. As seen in Manga Volume 17.
Tenseiga: Literally "Heavenly Life Fang" is the sword that Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha's father bequeathed to him. The Tenseiga cannot kill, it can only revive. It doesn't fit his apparently evil and callous character, yet Sesshoumaru is the Tenseiga's master. He could revive 100 lives with one blow... if only he wanted to. Sesshoumaru uses this to revive Jaken and Rin.

Toukijin: Literally "Fierce Fighting God". Kaijinbou, Toutousai's apprentice made the Toukijin from the blood and fat of 10 children and the fang from a demon named Goshinki who bit the Tetsusaiga apart. All you have to do is point the thing at your opponent and it slices them up as if your hurling razor blades at them. As it's made form Goshinki's fangs, whom Inuyasha defeated, the sword itself thirsts for his blood. Kaijinbou, it's maker was possessed by Toukijin to find Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru claimed it as his own after Inuyasha killed Kaijinbou with the Tetsusaiga.

Tetsusaiga: Literally "Iron Pulverizing Fang" Forged by the swordsmith, Toutousai for Inuyasha's father, the Tetsusaiga is Inuyasha's inheritance. There are many things the sword can do, but Inuyasha must learn to master it. This sword can mow down 100 youkai at once, as seen in Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's second meeting. After the Tetsusaiga was broken by the oni Goshinki, Toutousai rationalizes that before Tetsusaiga broke, the Tetsusaiga was the sword was Inuyasha's father's fang and Inuyasha was relying on his father to protect him. After it was repaired, it was his own fang. Once he can swing it freely, he'll be truly strong. He also says this to keep Inuyasha from knowing that the Tetsusaiga helps to lock down his Youkai blood. Without it, in the face of great danger, Inuyasha transforms into his full, wild Youkai form.
