Federation F.A.Q
Federation F.A.Q. & Information

1. What's the purpose of IGA?

The International Grappling Association (IGA) was started in July of 2001. It entered the wrestling scene with a big budget and looked to run with all the trappings of the big time promotions. This allowed for creative freedoms with promo settings, entrances and gimmick matches. Mainly, however, the IGA main purpose was to always provide a fun and relaxing wrestling atmosphere.

We are now in the year of 2006 and at the time of this rewrite of the F.A.Q, we are only a few weeks from the IGA Birthday Bash (a show held every year around the 10th of July) and the IGA has continued to stand by it's main purpose. It has been and is still open to all types of wrestlers and their styles. However, just like some big name TV federations there are times where the roster is so stacked, we have to create a waiting list. That is few and far between and we will let you know when that happens. Otherwise, we try and accommodate most applicants.

In character, the IGA offices are in Hollywood, California and in the process of building the federation, the IGA eventually opened up it's own arena in North Hollywood. The arena is the Lucas Arts Arena & Sports Center. It has a wrestling specific arena (which can also be used for a few other indoor sporting events) as it has seating that gives most fans an up close feel. Lots of balconies that look down over the action as well to help accommodate that feel. It has a golf course! Yes, the PGA has even held a couple of tournaments there. It has an IMAX theater that allows the local fans to come watch the weekly events and PPV's when the IGA is 'on the road' so to speak.

Though mainly a US promotion with US offices, the IGA is really International. Boasting a roster that has wrestlers from Japan, Canada, Russia, England, Mexico and more, the IGA also has handlers from most of those very same places. Including Belgium! In character a tour is held every year at the start of the year and that tour will take the IGA across the globe in two months, culminating in a huge PPV event.

So, as you can see the IGA is really all about the entertainment, fun and excitement of the wrestling world and the owner has taken great pains to make sure it's always fresh and a fun place to be around.

2. Who runs this thing? (Fantasy - In Character)

The IGA is run by none other than Jazz Madison. Madison is the President as well as the CEO & he is a veteran of the ring wars, retiring from the active roster in 1997. Jazz held two World Titles for two different promotions during his career that spanned close to 20 years.

In 2001, Madison threw his head into the business aspect of the sport. Having more then enough money through his career contracts, endorsements and movie deals, he decided it was time to start his own promotion. He's a creative genius when it comes to story lines and angle ideas, and despite the fact that he tends to side with the "heel" element of the workers, he is respected among all.

Physically, Jazz is a man in his late 30s. He is very charismatic, with black hair and hazel eyes. He stands about 6'3" and is still very well built. Clad usually in suit and tie, Jazz is all business in and out of the ring and yes, on occasion, he has donned the tights and stepped into the ring for action.

On occasion there have been "storylines" when Jazz has been taken out of the picture (Winds of Change, New Development w/ Kendra Taylor) but in the end, it's always Jazz Madison that has his name on the owners deed!

Though owned by Jazz Madison, the parent company name is Spyal Edge Entertainment. This massive sports conglomerate also owns the International Boxing League which features some of the most exciting boxers in this day and age and also owns the IGL: The International Football League. The IGL is a 12 team football league boasting some hard hitting action.

3. Who runs this thing? (IRL - Out of Character)

His name is Jon Maltese. Having been in the E-Wrestling business for close to 10 years now, Jon has amassed a ton of knowledge and has made many friendships. He's run a successful TNM based Sim federation back in 97, but personal issues forced it to close. He's handled Jazz, Terry, Andy, and Dante Madison in various organizations along with "The American Nightmare" Perry Vaughn and Jean Paul Valley (don't hate the handler hate the game). Jon relies on several E-Wrestling handlers to write matches, create angle idea's and book for the federation, making it one of the smoothest running federations in recent history.

The IGA also is helped by Rick Ransom. He's considered the Director of Talent Relations and is not involved with the every day decisions. His main goal is to try and answer the questions of the wrestlers that join and work for the IGA and try and maintain goals for each. Rick offers idea's to not only Jon about certain story lines for the characters but to the handlers themselves. Rick has been in E-Wrestling since 1993 and stated his 'fedding' in the table top era.

But really it's all about the entire crew at IGA. Each individual has a voice and has offered idea's and opinions to help the IGA become a fun environment. Between Jon and the staff of handlers, the IGA has consistently put out one show a week for the past 6 solid years, taking only a week here or there to recoup from a PPV. You can reach Jon or Rick at the following addresses or AIM screen names:

Jon: E-MAIL: IntlGrapplingAsc@aol.com, AIM: IntlGrapplingAsc, MSN Messenger: SpyralEdge
Rick: E-MAIL: RPGTommyDanger@aol.com, AIM: RPGTommyDanger

4. How this all works:

Though the IGA is a place that allows for creative thought and designs, there are some general rules in effect. And remember folks, there are a lot of unwritten "E-Wrestling rules' that you should already be following.

Roleplays/Flashes:

One of the most important things in IGA is role playing. Plain and simple, if you don't role play, you don't win. Whether it's a promo/flash, a backstage segment or an in ring interview, it's best that you stay active weekly, booked or not. That's a major part of the development process. There are some rules for role playing which are:

- SWEARING: If Stone Cold can say it, so can you. But aside from damn, ass, etc; any other curse word should be covered with a [CENSORED] or something of that sort.

- NO ATTACKS: No physical attacks on announcers/reporters/staff are allowed without the permission of the powers-that-be... a.k.a. Jon. If you do not ask for permission your flash most likely won't run. It's always best to check mainly because that character may have already been a part of another story line and any further use may be incorrect.

- KAYFABE: No mention of real wrestlers will be allowed... But other e-wrestlers and feds may be mentioned in your RPs IF they allow you too. Also, please keep the mention of "outside-IGA" things to a minimum. It's fine to know that you gained the XYZ World belt, but we shouldn't remember it at every RP!

- FORMAT: The IGA has a certain format style for it's show but it's not strictly enforced. Not unless it becomes too much of an issue. Any promo style is allowed for the flash show and during the card itself there are usually no changes to your style. However, on a few occasions, to make for uniformity within the show, the style used is that of action brackets and screen play.

Example:

[Wrestler A is standing in front of an IGA banner with a microphone.]

Wrestler A: I am the end all, be all in professional wrestling today. Now can you dig that Burddahhhh!

[Wrestler A drops the mic and moved from the scene.]

Strategies & Angle Work:

The IGA is a 60-30-10 federation. Meaning, RPs count for 60%, Angle work 30% and Strats 10% going towards an outcome of a match.

Though match strategies are not a primary outcome factor, they are important to you. Creating the right foundation for your character and how he/she will be perceived at any given point in his/her career is what it's all about. The story telling in the IGA is done through your promo's and more importantly, in the ring. We need the strats (basic or advanced) to know what your character is going to be like. Attitude. Finisher. Match end reactions and spots are the basic element of a strat.

"I like spots, I like spots ALOT, spots make me happy especially when you put over your opponent." Jon Maltese.

Angle work is your ability to work with others in a feud and a willingness to "put another character over" to help a story line.

5. Cards & Shows

The IGA has a flagship show, a flash show and then PPV's and special events. This part of the FAQ has undergone some major changes. Old members please be aware.

IGA Combat Zone:

This is the main card! The flagship show if you will. Hosted by Paul DeLucia and Danny Streamline this show is fully written, all the big matches will be broadcast here. This show is now every Tuesday on ESPN. The time slot is from 8PM to 10PM.

Brief History: Combat Zone has always been the original wrestling show of the IGA. It debuted on a Wednesday, was moved to Sunday after the first year and was pretty much unchanged until recently. The IGA has signed a new deal with ESPN and will now air on a more popular night (Tuesday) in the same time slot.

IGA Verbal Altercations:

This show will undergo the most changes. Originally just a promo show where RPs were released, Verbal Altercations will get a face lift. Starting in July of 2006 Verbal Altercations will now be a promo/summary match show! All role plays are due in by Saturday @ Midnight, EST and those that are on time will be placed in this promo/wrestling show with up to 4 wrestling matches. The new look Verbal Altercations will be aired every Sunday in the old Combat Zone time slot of 8-10. Those promo's that are sent in after the Verbal Altercations has been released will still be aired, but not until the release of Combat Zone.

Under Pressure:

This is a free PPV caliber show usually put out on the off months of a PPV. The show airs in the same time slot as Combat Zone but runs an hour longer. From 8-11PM.

Pay-Per-Views:

This is when everyone kicks it up a notch more then usual. PPVs are where feuds begin, feuds die, and superstars are born. All PPV's will still be held on Sunday dates. The following The PPV lineup is as follows.

January - None
February - International Incident
March - None
April - Grapplefest
May - None
June - Chance Encounters
July - None
August - In Your Face
September - None
October - Devil's Night & Requiem for Pain (10/30 -10/31)
November - None
December - Tournament of Warriors

Weekly Schedule:

DEADLINES HAVE NOT CHANGED!

Nor have they in 5 years. Below is a list of the weekly deadlines. These deadlines stay true even when a card is released late or is behind schedule. As with any federation, match writings are the cause of any delay.

Strats and In-rings due by Friday
Flashes/RPs due on Saturday by Midnight
Card/Updates comes out on Tuesday/Wednesday

6. Staff and Cast of Characters:

Who are the staff members?

Front Office:

Jazz Madison: Jazz is president, CEO, Board of Directors, Michael Jackson and everyone else is Tito to him. The IGA's success is all because of Jazz and he has no problem with letting everyone know that.

Update!: After being ousted in August of 2004, Jazz Madison returned and took the reigns. The secret of his disappearance? He was pulling all the strings behind the scenes during the Winds of Change created New Development. At GrappleFest of 06 (April) Jazz was run down by an unknown assailant! Kendra Taylor has stepped in and now is running things.

Antonio Marcellus (Also known as The Nightstalker): He was the new Director of Authority. Plain and simple, all business decisions went through him. Since the ouster of WOC and the arrival of Kendra Taylor, Stalker has not been seen on IGA TV.

Trevor Wincott: Trevor used to be the announcer for the PMCW until it closed. When he was first hired by the IGA, he was the acting commissioner. Now he is company advisor of international affairs. He's about 5'9 with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. He usually dresses in nice suits with glasses. He's a straight shooter who does what he feels is right. He's more likely to come out and make decisions on matters.

The voices behind IGA:

Announcers:

Paul DeLucia: Paul is your traditional announcer, he calls it straight down the middle, taking no sides. He's full of knowledge of moves and holds from his many years in the industry.

Danny Streamline: Ex-Wrestler turned announcer, Dan is arrogant and full of himself. He cheers the guys who resemble him (heels) and loves for some good old fashioned cheating. Update: See above. Danny is now acting Commish for the Winds of Change.

JP York: A former interviewer when he first started. Was fired in 2002 after a misunderstanding with Jazz Madison. Returned under a mask as one of three Ramius Verchenko's (Code Red Manager) and was been named Danny Streamline's color position on the broadcast team when Danny was an interim Commissioner. Sadly, JP York was fired again for "vies unbecoming a neutral announcer."

Interviewers:

Kimberly Baldwin: She's dumb as dirt, but boy does she have a hot body usually clad it tight mini skirts and tops, the only reason she was hired was for some T&A for the IGA fans. Her blonde hair reflects her personality... "um...like...ya know..."

Whiskey Boone: A former wrestler that has just been hired by the IGA to help Baldwin with backstage interviews. Whiskey retired after a long career so he knows his stuff and usually has some dirt on wrestlers.

Travis McKay: Radio show announcer that broadcasts Ground Zero Radio.

Referees:

They try and control the action...sorta...

Bull Anderson: Bull is a TRUE ref. and former wrestler. He knows the job, he calls match right in the middle and allows no cheating. He isn't afraid of calling a DQ. You touch him, you lose and get your lights knocked out by the 6'5 320lbs vet.

Erik Rockwell: Erik is a strict ref in the ring and calls it right down the middle. He's got a keen eye and doesn't let much get by him. He's got no problem with letting a fight rage on but the minuet someone wants to start cheating he's not afraid to call for the DQ.

Simon Jones: Simon was fresh out of ref school when he first started. He's improved some, but he's easily distracted, and real nervous in the ring. He goes by the book but does forget every now and then, he's a good kid and once he gets some experience he'll be a great ref.

Zack Delgado: Zack is only 5'4 a failed luchador from Mexico now he's in the ring calling the shots as ref. Usually assigned to Jr. Heavyweight matches where he's able to keep up with the fast paced action. Side note: Zach's real name is "Dizzy" Gomez and he recently feuded with Darkside Clyde.

Mike Voltage: He's the referee in reserve. Hired on by the Dynasty v2 in late 2003, Voltage had a 5 year guaranteed contract set up. Bull Anderson could do nothing to get rid of this "suspect" referee so he's limited his role to backup.

Ringside Crew:

Giovanni Corlone: Former Mets sports commentator now Giovanni is the ring announcer for the IGA. Yes, he is as connected as he sounds. Rumors abound he had something to do with Winds of Change.

Carson Bowie: Carson Bowie is the head of security, when fans or wrestlers get out of line he leads the charge. Carson is only average built but he's quick and a black belt in akido. Carson was replaced by New Development heavies, Saul Akiva and Perry Vaughn and is now head of security for the AGA, the IGA's developmental league.
