Chapter 1:
How the Hell did this Happen?

I had thought out all of the possibilities of what was going to happen. However I never thought it would end up like this……

Waking up from being knocked unconscious with something that felt like a bat, I found myself in a large stone room with candles lit all around as if we were going to be locked in darkness. I tried to think back and figure out who, or in my case what, had attacked me.
I heard a pair of footsteps heading my way and as they entered the room I closed my eyes trying to pull off as still unconscious. If they were a shifter then they’d be able to see through my disguise but lucky for me they weren’t. I heard someone walk towards me and felt a hand hovering over my face but didn’t give the clue that said that I knew. I felt the hot hand wavering over my head and at that moment my eyes opened to stare at the two people in front of me. One of the two was a small women about five four with long curly blond hair that shaped her face perfectly. I looked up to her face to see that she had brown eyes that looked as if she could crawl into the depths of your soul. She was wearing a small red tank top that said that she wasn’t shy and skinny jeans with black high heels. I looked beside her to the man that had his hand in my face. I would have told him to get it out of my face before I cut it off but I didn’t. Seeing as how I was tied up in what looked like a basement and had no clue where I was.
Still looking at the man I examined him up and down, left and right trying to memorize his face just in case I escaped this place and he was still alive. I made sure that if I didn’t die that I would kill him for not helping me. He was tall, almost reaching six foot if he wasn’t already there. The dark brown hair that brushed against the lashes of what looked like green eyes glowed against the light of the candle like he had descended from some other worldly place that humans knew nothing about. I relaxed the tense muscles that I hadn’t known had tightened up and my mind began to go to that dark place that I went to, to survive and kill what needed to be killed to fulfill that eagerness.
I looked up to stare at the man that had his hand in my face and apparently he saw something he didn’t like or didn’t expect. “What are you” he asked jumping back like he was dodging a fist. “In all of my years I have never seen such, rage”
“What are you talking about?” this from Barbie “there is no rage in her in fact there is nothing” she turned and looked back from the tall dark and handsome to me.
“I assure you that it is anger that I am sensing. But to this extent their should be no human able to remain sane. ”
“Ah, how sweet. I don‘t know if I should take that as an insult or a compliment” I said annoyed by the fact that I was still here. I should be home, tucked in beside Shane and asleep by now. I had gotten a call while in the middle of eating supper and had to run out to police station to get one of my little friends out of jail and hadn’t had time to get back home after dropping him out at his house before getting attacked out of nowhere and well, here I am.
“It was meant to be a compliment” he said looking at me with a face that told me he was interested in me for some reason.“ I have answered your question and yet I have not gotten an answer out of you. Now answer me!”
“Fine, what do you want to know” I asked as I sighed. I already knew that I wouldn’t be sleeping any time soon so I just gave up.
“Do not play coy” Barbie demanded. For some reason I had gotten her panties in a wad but I didn’t know what had caused it. I looked over to her and yet again the darkness filled me and I felt nothing. She flinched as if I had burnt her and turned away towards the man.
“I will not repeat myself again. What are you?” he asked in a strained voice
“What are you?” I asked. I knew that annoying the people who had me restrained wouldn’t be a good idea but I was getting tired of playing 20 questions.
He came towards me and was so close that I could feel his chest rise and fall as he breathed. “Do not defy me. If you will not talk willingly then I will make you” He reached out to me and was fixing to touch my neck.
At that moment I knew what he was and what he was going to do. Before he got any closer I thought about death, the kill, and my powers flung out into the empty space like a wild fire that was slow at first but spread like water in the end. He backed up and a slow growl escaped his throat.
I felt a power rise from the hall. I dropped mine as he walked in and something about him made me wince. “Justin!” he said and apparently that one word was enough since the man in front of me turned and walked out the door.
If I hadn’t heard her breathe I would have forgotten that Barbie was still in the room. She looked startled to see the man in the doorway come near her and as he did she began to kneel and raised one fist to her chest. Whatever was going on here I already knew that I wouldn’t like it, so I kept quiet hoping that they would forget about me.
The man walked around her to me so that I could get a better view. He, like Justin, was around six foot with a few inches to spare. He had brilliant black wavy hair that matched the perfect midnight blue eyes and tan that I couldn’t tell if he was born with or not. I knew that he was muscular just from looking at him since there were lines poking out from under his shirt that had muscle written all over it. He wasn’t one of those that over did the work out schedule instead it was like he had been made to have that perfect body from birth. While I was caught up in my own thoughts he had covered the last few yards between us without me noticing. Trust me I was paying attention now.
He had reached out for me the same as the other man had done but this time I decided it was best not to tick the man holding me hostage off . Yeah, that sounded like a good idea. I expected something a little more aggressive from him I don’t know why he just seemed like that type of man that had that macho attitude and I‘ve noticed that it‘s the almost always the tough men who go down first and it‘s quite amusing. Not the whole death thing but those men who act all freaking high and mighty and tick you off are usually the ones that you see crying for their moms in the end and that just seems well……hilarious!
Stepping out of La La Land and into reality I noticed that the hand that was placed on the side of my face was now caressing my cheek. He moved his hand to my forehead and smoothed my bangs to the side of my face so that my scar was noticeable. I had gotten the scar from a dhamphir who was nine years old and a hundred and twenty at the same time. She had been playing makeover with me and decided to place a scar on my forehead that looked like a moon to mark me for her master. What happen to her exactly? Let’s just say when I finally got out she didn’t want to play with me anymore, go figure.
“So you are lady death?” the man in front of me asked. “I would have figured you to be, how do I say, more intimidating” he placed his figures on my head and began tracing the scars. “I would have never thought of how beautiful and petite you would be”
Did he just call me small? He did not just call me small. I tried my best to be a good girl but there is one thing I can’t stand and he just hit the jackpot. I raised the anger that I had been kept hidden and it rose to the surface of my skin like a shield to block his icy touch with my fiery rage. He took a step back and wrapped his hand up in his own like I had burnt him. I expected him to hit me or something similar to that thought but he did nothing, he just backed away and walked across the room out the door with a grin on his face. What the hell? I was usually good at ticking people off, just ask Barbie, but today I must be off my game. Huh? I guess I need to work on it.
