I had to read memoirs for English class and Chinese Cinderlla is soooo amazing. I was pretty touched by how sad her life was. I had the crazy urge to cry through most of the book. Her life is really sad and I'm just really glad I'm her. I also read A Child Called It. Now that, is one sad book.

Well I have read A Child Called It and I have to agree, it's one sad book. I was like shocked at what kind of abuse did the mother do to the son and I thought she had no right to be a mother like this.

Chinese Cinderella~ sounds good. I haven't read it at all but I should try. ^^

Chinese Cinderella was definitely sad! the author's family and life was really horrible, in my opinion.. i read it a long time ago [when i was really young] and i remember that i was quite affected that i read it a lot of times! kurou04.gif

oh yea, the author also published Falling Leaves, and although i've not read it, it seems to be the entire life story [no doubt even more devastating than Chinese Cinderella] of the author..

I've read chinese cinderella before. it was chosen as a book for my literature class. Yes, it was quite a sad story since her family was horrible. It was nice to read though (:

Ive read 'A Child Called It' and I'm happy for the boy, but he had to suffer so much!! Half-way though the book I was surprised he wasnt dead yet.
As for chinese Cinderella I have begun to read it but I havent finished it. It was good though and I wanted to read on but I didnt have time.

I have read both Chinese Cinderella and A Child Called It.

You know the author of A Child Called It has two other books about his life, one about being in several foster homes and his life as an adult. They are all very good.

The author of Chinese Cinderella has a book called Falling Leaves. It is very good and goes in depth in her life as a child into the person she is know and telling what happened to their family and what broke it apart in the end. It is very moving.

I really enjoyed that book. It was sad, but there was so much that I enjoyed about it. If you liked that book, you'd probably really like "Red Scarf Girl". It's around the same time, I think. It follows a Chinese girl's life, how she goes through the cultural revolution and everything else. I loved that book, too. It was seriously good.

I've never read a Child Called It. Although you're all saying it's sad, is it a good book? Would you recommend it?

i've read both chinese cinderella and a child called it. both were really sad. i remember reading chinese cinderella for an english class. a very sad book indeed. the thing i remember the most was the chick part where they killed her chick or something. lol. such a small and minute detail. but i that part was especially sad for me, so i guess that's why i remember it.
