Description: tips for the sick.

Babyscorpio - July 5, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Ahh! I recently caught a cold.. well actually, it's more like a sore throat, except it's not my throat that's sore.. it's my tonsils. I've been drinking a lot of water and taking vitamins but it still hurts sooo much. T.T

Does anyone have any tips?

cupidheart - August 15, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
i haven't been sick in 5 years and completely fear it. i hate being sick. so if i ever feel my throat become fuzzy i immediately head for some sour foods. lemonade something like that. sour foods usually help sore throats

Babyscorpio - August 15, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
OMG! Someone FINALLY commented! XD
Anyway.. for me.. sour foods make my throat worse. XD;;

If you're going to use the nutrients of honey to help your throat. Make sure it's cold. 'Cause once the honey is poured into a hot fluid, it looses it's nutirents.

suien - August 15, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
You should take Vitamin C. Drink hot soup. Drink hot drinks like tea with lemon and honey. In short you need a lot of liquids. Sometimes cough drops or throat drops work. It kind of relieves the pain. I just realized that you posted a long time ago. Haha. This advice might be too late.

Babyscorpio - August 15, 2007 04:26 AM (GMT)
Haha.. yeahhh... my cold's looooooooooong over. XD

RainbowCrayon - August 15, 2007 05:48 AM (GMT)
gyahahaha.
anyways,
my dad said that.. coca cola helps for a sore throat.
RAMEN.
CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP.
....
SOUP.

Babyscorpio - August 15, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
o.0 are you serious?! I thought that the bubbles scratch at your throat making it more irritated.

Omg. I haven't had Chicken Noodle Soup in the longest time. *cries*

KingMiyu - August 16, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Mmm if your looking for relief for a short period of time, I recommend eatting popsicles XD its not exactly good for you but it feels nice during that time your eating it lol

sabsk - August 16, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
In that case, I usually eat lemons, honey, etc... and I drink a lot of tea..

Babyscorpio - August 20, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
Okay, these aren't really tips for colds.. they're tips on how to relieve period cramps. If you don't know what they are, don't ask here. XD
Also, most of the things typed here are what I picked up two hours ago from a doctor's website.. so I can't really remember the exact words. Yes, you can blame me for not having photographic memory if that makes you happy. XD

1: Depending on your body type, put a warm/cold compress or water bottle on your abdomen or stomache to relieve pain.

2: Drink hot fluids.

3: Don't drink liquids with a lot of caffine. It could worsen your cramp. This includes: tea and coffee. Well, herbal tea is okay to drink.. as long as you drink the right kind. Ask your certified herbalist. <-- is that how you spell it?

4: Eat alot of oranges and pineapples.

5: If you don't mind taking medicine, painkillers should stop the pain quickly.

mojo - August 21, 2007 02:18 AM (GMT)
Nothings better for what ails you than chicken broth I don't recommend noodles cause of this one time I starting coughing with a mouth full and wound up snorting a noodle through my nose... :grrr: I know that's gross, but I thought I share it as a precautionary tale. I also eat saltine crackers. Camomile tea with honey and herbal teas.

But for goodness sake see a Doctor people!! That is if it's more than a 24 bug or if you have a fever etc. It's common sense.

harry - August 21, 2007 02:21 AM (GMT)
drink hot beverages
sleep alot
try medicine, sometimes works

Haha. I'm sorry it's just really funny. XD I remember having a mushroom come out of my nose before. It was a really small sliced up one and it was covered in mucus. Now THAT'S gross. XDD

bilibarlah - August 21, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)

yuecynster - August 21, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
Take Chloroseptic, the cough drop kind. It really helps, and drink lots of orange juice. I get sick a lot with the cold, even with the flu shot. Probably more than I can count on my fingers per year so I take it every single time.

maxiaojun - August 22, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
eh i just hype my self up on cough medicine and tough through the day

julian - August 22, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
don't take any painkillers/paracetamol they only hinder your recovery, seriously...oh and obviously dispose of everyday used tissues ^^ and of coursee~~ REST!

shizu_iyan - August 26, 2007 04:27 AM (GMT)
Well of course a complete bed rest is needed.. Drink plenty of fluids if possible those with vitamin c in it like a fresh lemonade or orange juice.. If needed drink decongestants or anti-pyretic drugs if you have a fever.. Dispose of your secretions as well immediately to avoid people around you getting sick as well.. :)

Babyscorpio - August 30, 2007 02:17 AM (GMT)
... don't drink so much caffinee. I mean it tastes good and all, but it's bad for your health. ^^ Also, try not to smoke.

ashki - September 1, 2007 07:42 AM (GMT)

meling - September 2, 2007 04:57 PM (GMT)
most have been said but always drink lots of water, have plenty of rest. Try drinking calamansi juice, it is something where the lemons' juice are extracted and then you mix it with the water add some sugar so it becomes tasty and drink on it, it is a good source of vit c..

and when you're goood to go maintain the things that has been mentioned as part of your daily diet. it never beats to keep a well balanced diet so to avoid any sickness in the future.

Babyscorpio - September 30, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
augh, everyone has been getting sick lately. D< I just recovered... XD
I can't stress this tip enough. DRINK A LOT OF WATER AND PEE A LOT. It's the quickest way. I swear it!

chinagirl1993 - December 3, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
I know that everyone already has commented it but I wanna say what I thought before looking at the commen. Eat some sour stuff.
When I was young and I got sick my mother made me eat lemon.
It was so sour!

Licia_Valentine - December 3, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
I chew Kalamansi when I have a cold. It's a local uhhh... fruit around our place. It's like a small orange/lime. It's green and very sour. It always works for me. If I have a cold today, and I ate it, I'll be cured the day after tomorrow. If my cold is worse, two days after that, I'll be okay.

Also, try drinking lots of water. And go easy on greasy stuffs or prevent it as much as possible. Eat green leafy veggies and take a nap.

kcal9 - January 4, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)

Babyscorpio - January 8, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
Oh I didn't know that you could drink pop when you were sick.
That's so cool! =0
But doesn't it irritate the throat even more since it's fizzy?

gravitron5000 - January 10, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
Best thing you can do to prevent yourself from being sick is to make sure you take plenty of vitamins. But once you've gotten sick, I'd say lots of hot foods, tons of rest, tons of water(not soda, or koolaid) gatorade works too, anything that will rehydrate. Also remember to treat the symptoms. If it is a cold or a virus of sorts there is no medication to make it better, you just need to treat your symptoms and let it run its course.

Genestarwind - January 11, 2008 01:26 AM (GMT)
Best thing is eat healthy food everyday including fruits and vegetables. Don't smoke or do drugs because it may lower your body immunity. Taking multivitamin tablet is also help to keep your body strong. Don't walk on the street when it's raining. Bring umbrella instead also use jackets and lot of shirts when it's cold.

bandducky511 - January 12, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
haha... this woulda helped like a week ago...
And if you have a sore throat, try not to talk so much and drink a LOT of water...

GreyFixation - January 13, 2008 02:59 PM (GMT)
Whenever I get a sore throat, I stock up on ginger ale. Not the pop soda kind, but 'real' ginger ale that comes usually in glass bottles. It's strong and it kinda numbs the pain away, haha.

Felicia - January 24, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
boil hot water and put a favorite tea bag in and sniff it.
it clears up ur nostrils and helps u feel a little more alive and refreshed.

simystic7 - January 24, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Have your tonsils removed. Or if you're not a fan of surgery lemon or honey tea works with soothing and such.

cherry464 - January 31, 2008 12:23 AM (GMT)
Drink some medicines, put a wet cloth on your forehead, and sit in bed and sleep

goongfanatics - April 9, 2008 06:39 PM (GMT)
i take cold and flu medicine by codral (day and night) this stuff is so good! oh and the minute you feel liek you caught a a cold or flu immediately go to chemist and get medicine for it, don't let it get worse before tryignt o fix it with medicine cos it doesnt' work :) if medicine dont' work from the beginning then it time you check with the doc, it might be seroius.

however during my cold i had last time i doubled up on my vitamins C i also drank lots of warm water (especially when taking medicine, i heard it better). If you have a sore throat use throat drops, but for someone like me i hate it! so i add a bit of honey to a glass of warm water. I heard honey soothes your throat, tho only temporarily.

if you're feeling tired and you really need that boost for the day, i take berroca! it really helps but please stay away from things like coffee and english tea, they only make you feel worse.

i'm sure a lot of you would know definitely NO cold drinks or food! no dairy product if you got a throat it builds up muscus hence you will get lots of phlem in your throat and perhaps a block nose

hitobitotomi - May 1, 2008 09:27 AM (GMT)
For sore throats, sleeping with a scarf kept around my neck (the whole night through) always helped me. and always having water just in case.

For a cold, I just heard from my friend that putting peppers under your feet (I think in your shoe) for a day helps it go away.

waradya - May 6, 2008 03:15 PM (GMT)
Have some good sleep and rest a lot,
take some vitamins,
eat a lot of meat,
drink hot beverages.

For hot beverages, I realy like ginger with some sugar. Hmmm it is so warm and relieves my cough.
