Title: Books that Made you Cry
Samantha - May 18, 2007 06:54 AM (GMT)
just wanted to see what books people have read that made them cry...so here are mine
The true story of hansel and grettle. (i cried at the end when the children were blameing themselves for what happened and eating scraps off of the floor)
My sisters Keeper (omg i would cry a little bit at the end of every other chapter just a tear or two but at the end i cried for over 2 hours and then just randomly through out the entire week whenever i though about it. It was just the ending, i never saw it comeing and even though i know now it was the perfect ending and the only one that gave it any meaning it just wasn't the ending i wanted. oh and i sobbed so much when it talked about a "statute of limitation on grief" and when they found her picture and she sealed it away in an envelope....man im getting all teary eyed just thinking about it now)
Samantha - May 18, 2007 06:57 AM (GMT)
oh i also cried when they said they lost touch with this couple in the book and that she hoped she'd understand... man now im really crying but its a good book and proabably the best book i've ever read (fiction) i highly recomend it cause it makes you think and i can't say that in any of their shoes (cept maybe jessies) id do anything diffrent from what they did
kujika - May 20, 2007 10:30 AM (GMT)
Oh... there are many. But I most cried about The Daughter Of The Forest. Also a book about a fairy tale (The Seven Swans). As you might know, the sister wants to save her brothers from the swan-curse. In order to do so she has to be silent for the whole time she needs to make the 7 shirts (one/two years as far as I can remember). I cried every time something bad happend to her and she couldn't respond, scream or anything.
Second book I cried about even days after: Last book of the Dark Magician Trilogy, when one of my most favorite characters died.

I remember the very first book that ever made me cry was Harriet the Spy. I don't even know how many more books have... Maybe I'll put some done as it happens...

I can't remember the author of these books i used to read!! I read them when I was really young, but I remember I'd always end up bawling at the end of the book. In like every one of her books the characters would die of different forms of cancer such as Hodgkins...which then made me paranoid for awhile about my lymph nodes!! I wish I could remember the name of that author...this will bug me for awhile.

Hmm... I don't usually cry when I read stuff... Probably, "Tomorrow, Maybe" by Brian James made me go teary-eyed. That's one heck of an emotional book. ^^;;;
Babyscorpio - July 1, 2007 06:49 AM (GMT)
I was crying when I read New moon. The part were she ran away from home was just so sad, I cried for two hours or so and then somewhere somewhere in the middle. I pulled all-nighters when reading that book and the prequel, they were so good.
Kan-Chan - July 1, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
Um...I have proabbly one or two...such as Tuesdays with Morrie...just because of how that disease got him and then New Moon where Edward left Bella. xD

It's been a long time since I last read a book.. But the ones that made me cry were "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, "[/I] The Picture of Dorian Gray[/I]" by Oscar Wilde (though he became an ass and stuff, I still pitied him in the end ;o;) and [/I]The Screwtape Letters/I] by C.S. Lewis (it made me feel really guilty especially with the temptations talk thing... GAh! >.<) . T.T T.T T.T
Oh. And Harry Potter, especially the last book. A lot of people died there and lots of unexpected things happened. After reading it, it made me want to tear off all the pages one by one .... Ah well. There's always fan fictions -_- Har har. :B
fobbykorean - August 10, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
a child called it made me cry. it's so sad to think that a boy so young went through so much.
cutiepie13 - August 14, 2007 06:12 AM (GMT)
A author Lurene Mcdaniel has many books that has stories of people that have a disease or died tragically.it made me cry sooooooo bad.
i recommend her books. ^_^
Ken-chan - August 14, 2007 06:33 AM (GMT)
hmm, I;m not much of a reader but some of them did succeeded in making me cry,
Anne of green gables, when Matthew died
Harry potter, when Dumbledore died, and loads of time in the recent book.
WynterAsylum - August 14, 2007 07:03 AM (GMT)
The last time I really cried over a book was with Stephanie Meyer's New Moon. I was sooooooo angry that Bella turned into a damn zombie and the way that she just accepted and expected to be left. I almost threw up my hands at the whole series... but I'm reading Eclipse now >.<

I can't remember the title of the book, it is some where in my room. It is the story of a girl who adopts a blind dog and teaches him to run through an agility course. The ending reakky made me cry.
Nina182B - August 21, 2007 02:56 AM (GMT)
I can't remember the title. But the book is about a boy and his 2 hunting dogs.. I was in elementary school when I read it and cried like a baby. Great, this is really bugging me. Now I have to figure out what the boy was called.
shinobixchan - August 21, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
The last book that made me cry was "Artist of the Floating World" by Kazuo Ishiguro. He is one of my favorite authors and he is a truly amazing man writes regret and nostalgia like no one else. I would recommend, "Never Let Me Go," his latest novel to anyone who is interested.
Find it at Amazon!
swtlitoangel - August 21, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
mmm...this is so cheesy but The Notebook was the only book that made me cry...there are others that has made me teary eyed but the notebook made me so sad! T.T
mmartine - August 21, 2007 09:04 PM (GMT)
There are two books that always make me sob, and they are Where the Red Fern Grows and A Dog Called Kitty. They're both about dogs and the impact they have on the lives of the boys who raise them. They come from the same vein as Old Yeller --- so yeah they're pretty depressing. T.T
Nevari - August 22, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
The only book thats ever really made me cry was gone with the wind. [RHETT AND SCARLETT <3<3 ;;] It sucks the sequel sucked. It made me cry for a different reason. e.e
sweetroses90 - August 26, 2007 01:47 AM (GMT)

Di0 deL Fu0c0 - August 26, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
i never read a book that would make me cry but where the red fern grows was very sad. my favorite characters died in the end. n er they r the dogs T.T
Koji - September 1, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
Hm...this may sound kinda stupid, but Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. I know, probably alot of people have already said this, but the death scene of Dobby broke my heart. They didn't really get to talk, and they haven't seen each other for so long, and then Dobby just SNUFFED it...
Also, Ptolemy's Gate by Jonathan Strauss. It's the last book of a trilogy, and extremely sad in the end. Nathaniel, the protagonist, died with his djinn, Bartimaeus. The two have always had an odd relationship, seeing how Bartimaeus was his first summoned djinn, knew his name, and was the one who was with him all along. Nathaniel is an extremely interesting character; he was innocent in his own way in the beginning, free of hte corruption of the governement, but was stained when he joined the government. Bartimaeus woke him up a bit, but then left, and he was corrupted again. In the end, the spark of good in Nathaniel finally won over, and he nobly died to save many people. It's just...depressing, the ending.

Some of the books that made me cry was called Sorcates in love. It's a nice novel that was once a drama and manga. It was sad but in a way true. T.T

Do stories made online but licensed count? If it does... (I'm gonna type it out anyway X_X) I like the story about Mina Nam, 'True Love Never Ends' or something? Anyway I cried so hard at the real story, and the alternate ending kinda is funny, but its the real thing that's always so much better =/ even though i do admit i like the alternate ending better...
Its about a 19 year old girl who likes this .. okay ill ruin it if i say much more, its more of a 'Read it for yourself to know what it's about' type book xDDDD
gaara01190 - December 3, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)

I cry ALL the time while reading. I can't even keep straight what's made me cry, because it happens so often. I can only hope I'm not on the bus or something.
