well, i'm a new user to live journal and i've been trying to join communities and such, but whenever it says i DID join it, i still can't access the protected posts. and i tried refreshing the page already. :]
on top of that, a part of my layout doesn't work and i can't find the style format place so i can switch it to generator (which i THINK is the problem).
can any LJ savvy person come and save me? :]

maybe it's your computer? did you restart? or there might not be any posts.. i think you should contact the owner of the group

I think the problem is that the person who's running the community hasn't approved you yet. Just wait a few days or so and they'll add you to the community. That's what happened to me. Hope that helps. =3

When I join communities, I press the "Join community" button, and it brings me to this other page. I think theres an "Add friend" button on that page, so I usually press that button as well. And it always gets added to my friend list. So if you're not pressing twice, maybe try that?

Perhaps the community needs to accept your request first
