Title: Do you read fanfiction?
fritefal - January 2, 2011 03:55 AM (GMT)
Does anyone read fanfiction?
I mainly read Harry Potter fanfiction and some Smallville fanfiction (even though I don't really keep track with the episodes). My main ship is Hermione with any character and I enjoy reading crossover fics, too. I recommend Granger Enchanted and scifichick774 if you love Hermione. :D
Anybody got recommendations for Harry Potter fanfiction or fanfiction in general?

I used to read Inuyasha fanfics, and I used to make some too~ but now not so much. My time's pretty focused on scanlating. :hahaha:
yukixluka - February 11, 2011 08:07 AM (GMT)

Chokokat - February 16, 2011 10:04 AM (GMT)
I used to. My brother got me hooked on Harry Potter fanfiction, and I spread out from there to other books but a lot of Anime and especially manga. But I had to cut down a lot when I entered college. Reading fanfiction is fun, but real life comes first. I also had to cut down on reading mangas too T.T I have no time now
Shadoe - February 22, 2011 09:42 PM (GMT)
Hmm.. I don't read FanFics all that much, considering I'm usually more interested in messing around with Photoshop, reading manga, or reading novels xP But I still read sooo much fanfiction~ as you can see with my siggy, I like KHR, and those are the Fics that I usually read, and I ship 10069/69100 G27, 0027/2700 and D18 haha (my friend thinks I'm weird cuz i like 0027/2700 ;P)
infinitum_crux - February 23, 2011 02:49 PM (GMT)

Mitsu-otaku - February 23, 2011 09:43 PM (GMT)
I don't like fanfiction very much at all. But I see the appeal.
starstruck - February 24, 2011 09:25 AM (GMT)
I do! I write them too. I mostly read/write fanfic about asian drama artists because they are far removed from me so I can do so without feeling creepy. :D
lyanthros - February 28, 2011 02:11 AM (GMT)

Anyone read the fanfics on Soompi?
I used to go on soompi and read fanfics daily and whenever I went on the computer. However, now I haven't been reading as much.
There are some really good fanfics there that should be published cause they're really well written with amazing plots. If you ever get the time to, definitely read some of the famous completed fanfics such as welcome to the underworld, and conversations between us.
KChanDreamWriter18 - March 14, 2011 05:49 PM (GMT)
I read fanfics when I am bored at work. Mostly Hetalia and Inuyasha crossovers because they are more interesting. :YAY!:
enelya - March 15, 2011 01:32 AM (GMT)
Yes. I like to read crossovers, especially when they're done well.
ayachan - March 23, 2011 04:21 PM (GMT)
not really a fan of these ones... i'd rather be reading the real thing... ^^
bluepastel - March 24, 2011 07:48 PM (GMT)
I read CCS and Gakuen Alice fanfics they're really awesom ;)
Ethereal - April 4, 2011 09:17 PM (GMT)
I used to, but I stopped. Usually, a lot of things irk me in fics, so I avoid them like the pest - because I know they are not fit for me.
A lot of fics depict the characters in a very OOC way; a lot also have a lot of trouble with expressing simple sentences, and while I can understand that - been there, done that - it's irritating to see a good idea going to waste because well, the writing style is erratic.
Then again, I'm really difficult with writing and I refuse to lower my standards, so... I may not be the best example around.
sparkl3s - May 29, 2011 02:23 PM (GMT)

Mikasha - May 30, 2011 06:38 AM (GMT)

I used to read a lot! Normally, only CCS and Harry Potter. CCS is like one of the biggest section, I think. Hoho, I wrote some too~ -_-
fairie-writer17 - August 6, 2011 02:59 AM (GMT)

forgetme75 - August 21, 2011 08:12 PM (GMT)

Lovely. - August 23, 2011 05:54 PM (GMT)
I do on occasion. They can be nice to read since they can be alternatives to the real book/manga~ Used to read fanfictions from Ouran High School Host Club, Harry Potter, FTK, Vampire Knight, and a bunch of others~ :3
kaya_chan - September 23, 2011 02:48 PM (GMT)
I used to read Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanfiction... there were a few authors that I really liked so I followed their work but then they stopped writing/finished their series and I stopped searching for new ones.
orangie - October 5, 2011 08:06 AM (GMT)
i usually read fanfics of korean singers. before there used to be really great writers who always inspired me so much and i was always sad that their works would always remain an online story and not many people would know about it. but these days, i don't know what it is, but the quality of fanfictions in general just aren't what they used to be.
i also write some as well,(and very much timid about it), and i'm sure that my works will never be anywhere near the ones i've read before. :/
but yeah. i don't know about reading HP fanfics because i would much rather stick with the book itself. and as for animes and mangas.... same goes to them. hehe... for those, i don't enjoy fanfics because i haven't been able to find a fanfic that can make a nice story while not ruining the character or the story of the original novel/manga. and most of the time, the original is always much better than the fanfic, and sometimes fanfics alter my view of a character, and i don't like having that alteration for novel or manga characters. i feel like it makes me lose the author/mangaka's original intent when i read someone else's fantasy about them.
but i think it's different for singers or actors because they don't really have a story or character context since most of it is just dependent on the drama character they play or the album theme or something. and since they're real people i personally find it somehow easier to imagine things with them. it doesn't really make sense to me since i could have easily imagined harry potter was real or something, but i just can't to that sort of imagining if the person doesn't really exist.
baambaam - October 24, 2011 12:33 AM (GMT)
I used to read more, now i only read if someone recommends me sth good.....Still write my own though, even if it is usually based on Dragonlance universe :D
Mollica - October 28, 2011 09:17 AM (GMT)
I ussed to read skip beat, but now theres too many so I can't choose. Also I'm not that obsessed anymore so fanfiction for sb has worn down for me...
renv - October 28, 2011 11:16 AM (GMT)
When I was in high school I used to be obsessed with Inuyasha fanfiction. When I was starting to get into the fandom I was looking for episode summaries and that's how I discovered fanfiction. At first I thought the whole idea of it as completely stupid because why would I want to read what someone besides the original creator wrote? :hahaha: I imagined it would be pretty horrible writing, so I didn't bother with it right away. I don't even remember why I decided to eventually read one (maybe I was desperate for some kind of new story while waiting for new episodes? -_-), but I think I was lucky because the first one I read was actually pretty good and hooked me.
However, the downsides are that it isn't easy to find really great stories or authors, and sometimes when you do find them the authors disappear and/or leave incomplete stories (which kills me T.T ). So nowadays I don't really read fanfiction anymore. Sometimes I'll check to see if any of my favorite incomplete stories have started back up, but it's just wishful thinking. :HIYA!:
I tried to get into other fandoms, but Inuyasha fanfiction is the only one that stuck. My favorite pairing was, of course, Kagome and Inuyasha, and my favorite writer was Rozefire. If she starts writing again, I'll go back to reading ff. ;)
giga92 - October 31, 2011 07:48 PM (GMT)
I used to read a lot before(manga/anime) ^_^ but now only sometimes :hahaha: ..
some fics are actually pretty good compared to the real stories -_-
HetaliaRomano - October 31, 2011 08:14 PM (GMT)
I love reading fan fiction! I write fan fic often!
xHeavenSentx - November 12, 2011 05:36 PM (GMT)
Yes. A lot of it. I even write fan fiction but mostly one-shots. I can never finish a multi-chapter fanfic.
Serene - November 13, 2011 07:20 PM (GMT)
I LOVE Fanfiction! I mostly read Naruto because it has such a wide variety of characters. I like them better than reading original novels sometimes because you already know how the characters are probably going to act towards each other.
b18d - December 19, 2011 09:39 AM (GMT)
ABSOLUTELY. I love romance fanfictions about my favorite loveteams. ;) I read Twilight, Naruto, Bleach, PoT, etc. The list goes on and on. Sometimes, I even prefer the fanfiction over the "real" stuff.
ckh988 - January 1, 2012 03:09 PM (GMT)
Yes I do read fanfiction. Mainly Tiger & Bunny though with some Black Butler thrown in.
aoz0ra - January 3, 2012 03:51 PM (GMT)
Oh yes, yes I do. I'm a tad fussy with my fanfic reading these days though lol, but Harry Potter fanfic, yup - I'm reading RaeWhit's 'The Sensible Garden' now, my friend made me xD. Apparently, I'm supposed to cry somewhere... But I didn't. *goes T_T at own lack of heart*
Also, a couple of Hetalia fics and Death Note (eff yeah for reading fic without reading series) and Mononoke (mm, Kusuriuri) and Tiger and Bunny, and D Gray Man and... I'll stop abusing 'and'. ;3
One of my fave writers of all times?
Metisket . Lady writes the most beautiful perspectives ever. KHR at least 3x more cool with her fic! xDD
