has anyone read the last unicorn by peter s beagle? i watched the movie first then i met peter this year at AX2008 and bought the book. i loved it!!! and a sequel is coming out <3 but the author is going through financial problems because he's not being compensated for the works he did (he was the screen writer for the animated films the hobbit, the last unicorn, and lord of the rings) it's so sad and he's such a nice dude too...

I did not realize that The Last Unicorn was a novel. I own the movie. For some odd reason, it was my favourite movie when I was young...looking back I wonder why because it's pretty dark and eerie. Haha. It's a really interesting story though. I might just check out the book now. =]

I LOVED the book! I am so jealous you got to meet Peter Beagle! The book was absolutely lovely. I own the movie (and still love it to this day, I was pretty excited when I found it on DVD for $10), and wish I could find the book somewhere. T.T

I had heard a rumor that they were going to make a live action The Last Unicorn movie - Loreena McKennett even did a cover of the opening song. But I haven't heard any more on it since back in 2007. It would be interesting to see what they could do with it, but I would be afraid they would find a way to mess up the original story.

i didn't know that the movie was based on a book... is it that good? For me the movie was so-so or maybe it's because i watched it long ago so i can't remember it much

Hm... I should read that then...

For some reason, this made me think of The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles...
