OK, this topic is for discussion of the president of the United States, George w. Bush. Is he a good president? DO you think his actions are good for the country, and for the world?
I personally think he is a horrible president. I am glad to say I voted for Kerry, the other candidate, in the 2004 presidential election. First of all, that "war" in Iraq wasn't needed. Bush wasted billions of dollars, and a couple thousand American lives over there. And what did we accomplish? Big deal, we got rid of some jerk who hates us and is really harmless. Meanwhile, the real threat of Al-Qaeda lives on relatively unchallenged. Why? Because a certain Commander in Chief didn't use our troops to pursue Bin Laden when he was trapped in Afghanistan. Yeah, I'm lookin' at you Bush. Oh, not only that, but Iraqis get free health care, while it's considered communist to give Americans free health care. Bush is also spending more on police and fire services in Iraq than here! Since when did George W. Bush become president of Iraq? And that's not all. While he increased his spending on useless stuff, he lowered taxes. Yeah, lowering taxes is always good, but for pete's sake, if we are gonna increase our spending, we'll need MORE money and not less. Also, even though taxes were cut, the vast majority of us didn't notice much of it. You know why? Because the tax cuts were geared towards those who are already filthy rich anyways! So unless you are part of the top percent that has 99% of all the money in this country anyways, you don't get affected by Bush's lame tax cut! Another thing that really cheeses me off about Bush is his attempt at making an anti-gay marriage amendment to the constitution. I mean, talk about a pointless thing. And the only reason Bush even supports that is because of his personal religious values. First of all, gay marriage hurts no one. If two people love each other, and they happen to be the same gender, then so be it, leave 'em alone and MYOB!!!! Second of all, this law Bush tried to make in effect, forces his faith on all American citizens. In the US we have something called "freedom of religion." People are allowed to worship and believe whatever crazy thing they want. Making laws based on a religious belief effectively forces your belief upon each and every citizen. Not only would an anti gay-marriage amendment be wrong, it would be unconstitutional! |
