It is the year 2040. From catastrophic events around the planet Earth, people have recovered at an exponential rate. The world powers have re-organized themselves, as World War III has finally diminished. The Chinese Communist society have been forced into defeat from the combined reactions of the UNDF (United Nations Defensive Forces). People are recovering fast from nuclear wars, and demoralizing destruction. Biohazards have been cured, and nobody seems to be experiencing symptoms.
At least, that's what they think.
In a lone city of Hollowberg, a massive quarantine has been issued around the city. A defensive wall has been erected. It is filled to the brink with turrets and elite guardsmen to make sure NOTHING gets through. Inside the vast city is a home for many different things. Soldiers have been dispatched into the quarantine zone. A virus has been detected from the radioactive emissions of the N-ZS1 nuclear missiles launched by China as a 'test' into Hollowberg. Organisms infected by this virus understand it is very fatal the moment they get it. They suffer an incredible fever, followed by lack of muscle and nerve control. Their brain literally rots through the course of an hour, before the organism dies. The virus then enters the now undefensive body, and re-animates it by developing another organ above the heart now designated as the "quornum". It is a 'breeding ground' for the viruses. Over long courses of time, the virus has been known to evolve the re-animated body into different shapes. In 2039, a 30 foot zombie was a major threat due to it's hyperactive Quornum. It got destroyed only due to highly toxic chemical warfare. It did not only destroy the zombie, but anything around it.
It has been known that other things, that aren't affected by the radiation, have been known to lurk.
Xurun, also known as 'slitherers', are black, gray striped, scaled monsters. There are very few, but they slink very low to the ground. They are very agile and normally, they seem to have developed visibly strong muscular systems. When they feed off of freshly killed corpses, they have been known to grow almost right after the feeding. If a two-foot Xurun ate a dead six-foot human, it would grow to approximately 5 feet in length over the course of an hour.
But there are others.
Who knows what might happen. One immensely strong war machine (the admin) has been first deployed. It has been extremely successful in eradicating many things around Hollowberg. It is rarely seen, however. It moves very slowly.
Daytime is a common cease-fire for the zombies, as they seem to wander off as if blinded, hiding in the shadows.
Buildings look demolished, but plenty are strong. You are able to barricade buildings for defense if one is sturdy enough.
Good luck.
